This shotgun was never designed to shoot weak bird shots (low brass). If you shoot slugs, buck shots, or high brass, it would function like an AK, that is flawless.hpcatx wrote:Beiruty, have you experience any reliability issues -- if concerned about using that for home defense? Re: My HD Shotgun
If you shoot weak bird shots, then it would not cycle and eject spent cases. If you would use 2.75" with speed greater thatm 1350 fps, then it would work great. Best are high brass shot shells. It would eject them 5-6 yrd to the right and rear.banshee wrote:any feed eject problems with certain ammo - what is it's value
Are you asking how much I spent on my Saiga-12?

Looks nice. Thinking about dressing up my 870.
Re: My HD Shotgun
That does look fun. Are the matches open to the public? What type of ammo is typically used? Are the matches held on a regular basis?Beiruty wrote:It looks like this match but the bays are way smaller:

Yes matches are open for public. Ammo is number 6 lead or finer. Matches are held monthly.

Might try one of the upcoming matches, 9/8 or 11/10. They say,Beiruty wrote:Yes matches are open for public. Ammo is number 6 lead or finer. Matches are held monthly.

To me, that means that the #7.5 I use for skeet is not permitted. Or am I reading it backwards? We require that you use LEAD SHOT (6 shot or smaller preferred). No steel or other "waterfowl" shot will be permitted, due to ricochet danger.

You are indeed. #7.5 birdshot is smaller than #6.C-dub wrote:Might try one of the upcoming matches, 9/8 or 11/10. They say,Beiruty wrote:Yes matches are open for public. Ammo is number 6 lead or finer. Matches are held monthly.

Re: My HD Shotgun
The #7.5 and #8 that I have is acceptable? Cool. Looked around. I didn't know what size waterfowl shot was.

Pawpaw, they would let you use your Mossberg for this. We should try it out sometime.
