I believe Walmart's official policy is to follow the laws in the state in which the store is located. I have OCd in Walmart's in VA no less than 2 dozen times and have never been asked to leave. Matter of fact I can't only think of one instance where anyone seem to notice, and even then they said nothing.

I don't have a video because it is common place here. Do you video tape yourself walking to the market with a pocket knife in your pants.....I doubt it, but in some places that could be seen as extreme. Same thing here. Those in non open carry states or places where open carry may be legal but not common have a different perspective.

Not sure a floor level employee at any store would have a clue what Walmart's official policy is on just about anything, much less than guns. Just saying...
My personal experience is that is not a big deal (in states with OC). Unless you enjoy watching a middle age guy shop for socks and motor oil, video taping myself doing it would be pretty anti climatic.
I think the best way to promote any right is to exercise it without any shame. IMHO It is pretty Orwellian to think that if an citizen is exercising their rights and someone has a problem with it, that we should be reprogramming the citizen instead of offering better training to the LEOs.
To me it would be no different than someone calling the cops on a street preacher in downtown Fort Worth. In theory the cops would respond, assess the situation (more than likely without asking for ID or detaining them), realize no laws were being broken and go about their daily business.

If dispatch can't ask MWAG callers for details to separate out the "nothing to see here" calls from those that merit attention, your proposal is the next best thing. I'd summarize it as: roll up, observe what's going on and then determine if contact is warranted. Barring a violation of the law in progress or RAS that something illegal is about to happen, move along.
Aren't LEO resources to precious to use in situations like this? This approach is win-win because it avoids law abiding citizens feeling like they are being treated like criminals and causing I'll will towards our public servants. It also eliminates "gotcha lawsuits".

Re: Open carry by two women at Walmart
I asked Walmart about their policies and here is what I was told. Notice the portion in bold has not been in prior replies from them:
Dear Steveincowtown,
There is no policy against customers carrying their handgun in our stores as
long as he/she is legally permitted by their state to carry the handgun.
As a private property owner, Walmart has the authority to ask customers to
remove their handgun or leave the store on a case-by-case basis if customers or
Walmart associates express concerns about the handgun.
For more information or further assistance, please contact your local stores
management for assistance.
Sincerely,
Walmart Customer Care

If they can't do that, maybe the next round of protests should be calling in MWAG reports for security guards, cops, gun store employees, and so on.SA-TX wrote:If dispatch can't ask MWAG callers for details to separate out the "nothing to see here" calls from those that merit attention, your proposal is the next best thing.

If open carry = disturbing the peace, it's our civic duty to report cops and others who disturb the peace.
