Iraq is out, it is no longer legal for civilians to be in possession of fire arms of any type
As it is the case in Lebanon and only tiny minority of the population would disarm. Iraq and Lebanon are awash with military grade firearms.
Yea I am aware of that, I took enough of them away from people
No law will stop them, here is the typical Arab wedding, and I commend them for it. (These are saudi's I'm pretty sure, but Iraq is exactly the same)

Made my trip to Switzerland last week, got some photos to share.
View of the Alps from Stanserhorn
And while I didn't see any "no guns" signs, I did see this one.

You're welcome, if only photos conveyed the true awe inspiring majesty of the place.

No, Israel, Kenya, and all these countries have VERY strict gun laws. All those thugs you see open carrying an AK 47 are doing so illegally. In a country where guns are illegal and the average person cannot afford one anyways, bands of armed thugs who don't care about the law rule the streets. Even the cops are afraid of them.

The law of gravity might stop them one day.

I will be closer to Lucerne, southern side of Lake Lucerne, about three hours from Zermatt (half way across Switzerland!) May try to make it over if we have time. I try to avoid the touristy areas, but since much of the natural beauty is often the most touristy areas it makes it difficult to skip. Thanks for the tip.
It's funny, the whole country is less than two times the size of the DFW Metroplex, it boggles my mind. You can fit over 16 Switzerlands into one Texas. Zurich to Paris is less than half the distance of El Paso to Houston. The scale of Europe is completely different than here.
Money will be an issue, still have a kid in college so that takes most of my spending money. The flight, hotel, meals, and transportation are all paid, so that's a start...
Switzerland has a 0.7 homicide rate, ranking it 17th safest in the world compared to USA rate at 4.7. Of course collection data will vary from country to country, but I really don't expect any problems. Being unarmed means being in condition "bright yellow" for me anyway.
I had the chance to visit Lucerne, arriving via rail from Milan. The train trip was breathtakingly beautiful as was the rack railway trip from the lake to the top of Mount Plautus. The cable car ride down was terrifying for someone with a fear of heights.
Switzerland was a sharp contrast with Italy, much of which was a military armed camp. There were machine gun emplacements in Rome and Caribinieri with machine pistols everywhere . Much of Italy was taken over by lawless immigrants who would, among other things, throw mud on your windshield at a traffic signal and then demand payment to clean it off. Italian homes and apartments have front doors with complex locking mechanisms like bank vaults. Switzerland did not have any of those sorts of issues then.
Without a language of their own, the Swiss adapt a primary one from their closest neighbor and Lucerne used German or at least their form of that language. They haven't adapted the crime problems of either France or Italy with those languages.

Yep, the friendly part in the "friendly" means that the government does not care and/or cannot enforce its laws. In Lebanon, at least, there is no cracking and wracking doors to take away your AK.

chasfm11,
Funny you should mention the locks. I had to take a photo of the key to my hotel room. Looks a bit complex.

I was in an apartment in Milan that had a front door with 10 separate rods. You had to turn a special key like that about 25 times to retract all of them to get the door to open. Leaving and entering were not minor tasks.

No, there are no other gun friendly countries. Over 2 hundred years ago, people left Europe to find freedom in America. People are still doing so today.

If you look 100 years ago, 1913, the United Kingdom was just as wide open and free as the United States when it came to firearms. A British citizen was allowed to possess anything: machine guns, mortars, cannons, grenades . . .
anything.
In fact, there was a long history that a British citizen had a duty to possess arms to be prepared to defend the Crown.
Fast forward 100 years and the Brits have lost all of it. We need to remain vigilant and aggressive in defending our freedoms.

Have to ask, were you ok with taking them away, think about it if they were not criminals why would you need to take them away. Sounds like the right to self defense does not apply to them? Remember the 2A protects our natural right/god given right. If it is a natural/god given it extend to all people of the world.
