She was originally from Maryland. Which explains a lot

Prior the incident we did have a great time. Of course I gave her a ride home, My mother would have had my hide otherwise.

I cant speak to why she got in the truck with me again but she dang sure got out as soon as I slowed down in front of the house.

She told our mutual friends "Thanks for hooking me up with a gun nut" .

If only she knew...

Ah, the convoluted trappings of setting someone up. I'm surprised that one of your friends wasn't better informed about either of your leanings.

Does she take rides home from other dates that do "bad" things? Her brain and her heart were in disagreement but she didn't realize it. Her brain knew she was safe. Her heart wanted to have a political temper tantrum.

That gives as whole 'nuther meaning to the term "getting lucky!"

Better to know now, up front, than when the gun slips out of your britches just after you popped The Question, or some other hideously unfortunate occasion.

Great analysis, I think that is exactly what happened here. If she thought she was truly unsafe, I wouldn't have expected she would have had him drive her home.

Oh well, at least it worked itself out on the first date. Maybe the open carry proponents could use this as an example of why OC is better.

my daughter took a "world view" class and one of the lessons was about what you could learn about a person from their bumper stickers. We still play that game when we're in traffic....it's actually kinda scary.

Given that my daughter shot her first .22 at age four, I'd say she'll have the opposite reaction: "Daddy, I wanted to go out with this guy, but he DOESN'T carry a gun. How can I trust him to take care of me if he will not take care of himself?"

If that's the dating conversation I have with her when the time comes, I'll be proud.
