If its just the corporate headquarters I'd bet good money within the greater DFW area.
Stronger rumors are that they will locate near Leander, in spitting distance of LaRue.
Does that mean I could walk to their headquarters? With STI and LaRue, we're beginning quite a little hub. now to just get Beretta and Smith and Wesson to move our way... :tiphat:

Magpul is moving its corporate headquarters to Texas. Three North Central Texas sites are under final consideration, and the transition to the Texas headquarters will begin as soon as the facility is selected.
The geographics in their statement would indicate somewhere between the Ft Worth, Abilene, Lubbock, and Wichita Falls areas. But then again I'm just looking at the map. They are welcome where ever they land.

Gun and accessory makers moving south, pot smokers moving north. Sounds like a good trade to me. :tiphat:

Yep, if you aren't in the chemical, refining, or shipping business...
Can't imagine a company like Magpul ever considering relocating to the Houston area.
Yeah, Houston is a bad place for business. </sarcasm>

I'm not a fan of the big city, but you do have to give Houston credit. Housing is still affordable, crime is lower than most big cities, and there are a LOT of companies headquartered here.
While a lot of these companies are indeed chemical, refining, or shipping, (especially the top list of Fortune 500 companies) you see many others are on the list as well.

Add in 4 state universities, 3 community colleges, 5 private universities, 3 law schools (OK, that's probably too many law schools ;-) ), and 25+ hospitals, this place is a lot more than just energy & shipping.

Magpul would do well to locate here and benefit from the lower transportation costs out of the Houston ports.

Unless they are gonna move it to North Central Texas I doubt it is in the running.

Obviously they disagree as it doesn't appear to even be a consideration.
I've done my time in Houston. No one will ever convince me that a Magpul type business should move there.

Considering it's just their corporate headquarters, just about any of the major metro areas would probably work. Well, except for the liberal haven of Austin. North Texas makes sense from a travel via air perspective.

Depends on who you ask. North Central Texas would definitely be near Leander (which is pretty much the geographic center of Texas). DFW area would be more like "Central North Texas".

Agreed. Greater DFW is a natural fit if all you're looking for is airport access. Not sure why a company would leave Colorado on principal to come to little Cali (Austin).

It's obvious they are not considering Austin.Neither Houston nor San Antonio seem to be in the running. I was just responding to the debate about which ones would be a fit.

I suspect they are liking at a suburb of DFW.

Anyone one hear anything more about this? It appears they have may have chosen to stay in CO. They are still posting jobs and hiring to their offices there.

Very odd...

This is an email from one of their sales and customer service reps I received recently:

"Thanks for reaching out to us; the move is happening as we speak. Our production and distribution facilities will be located in Cheyenne, WY and our HQ itself will be located in north central Texas. As for the Texas location itself we will not release the specifics until all the appropriate details have been finalized. Thanks again and we appreciate all your support."

They said they couldn't give any more specifics out, even an estimated date of announcement.
