I believe I read somewhere that the bio-Dad, Kevin Nguyen, is second-generation Vietnamese, meaning that one or the other of his parents probably immigrated during the 74-75 era during the fall of South Vietnam.
Mohammed Khaled Awde is an Arabic name - I haven't seen any reference to the country of his origin, but seeing as one of the conditions of his bail was to turn in his passport, he's apparently a newcomer to the country.
I disagree with your statement that allowing non-European cultures into the country will make us a 3rd world country. America is a land of immigrants, and unless you're a indigenous Indian, your roots were from somewhere else that someone probably thought shouldn't be allowed into the country, too.

You're comparing apples and oranges. Today's immigrants aren't yesterdays immigrants and today's America is not yesterday's America. The welfare system alone makes the kind of immigration we have today national suicide. Immigration with assimilation is tolerable to a certain extent but immigration and diversity are the path to national destruction.

I am not a moderator, but turning this thread into an immigration thread will get it locked.

Not neccessarily. I believe that a judge ordered George Zimmerman to turn in his passport.

The welfare system alone is national suicide, regardless of immigration.

You're correct, of course.

Most likely Awde is Lebanese immigrant or a son of Palestinian refugee who lived most of his life in Lebanon.
BTW, most immigrants to US from the Arab world are professionals, like Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, or Business owners. Such class of immigrants are excellent income earners in top 5% in US. They have 0% negative impact on social net safety.

“Based on your training you received when applying for your license to carry a concealed firearm, do you believe that you were justified in shooting Kevin?” Pate asked Awde.
Awde paused, according to the affidavit, then replied, “I don’t know.”
Defendant at trial, “at the time I was afraid he was going to hit me, but with the passing of time I have begun to second guess myself. Now after finding out I may face charges, I really regret shooting him”.

You are right. It very well could go that way but I am thinking it won't. Disparity of force also plays a roll. Big guys have a disadvantage here. Women have the advantage. It is pretty hard to convince a jury you were in fear for your life by a person who is obviously smaller than you and has no weapon.

If he really feared for his life, the "I don't know" answer at any subsequent point undermines his claim that the feared for his life, because logically, the only way it wouldn't be justified in his mind would be because he didn't really fear for his life. To me, his response indicates that he KNOWS he messed up and mistakenly believes that such an admission will help him...maybe gain sympathy. But really, it doesn't matter, does it? The standard isn't what HE felt.....the standard is whether a reasonable man would have feared for his life.

The real problem is he didn't state something similar to, "
Officer, I was in immediate fear of serious bodily injury and was forced to defend myself. I will cooperate and give a full statement after I have been able to consult with my attorney."
