I would agree that wasting backstraps is unethical. Even worse is over-cooking them. Should be a felony to cook them past med-rare.

Now Lion might be a different story. I'm not sure I have the stomach for a big old 15 year old pussy cat steak.

Zimparks.org Is the website for the park where Cecil was beloved. http://www.zimparks.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.zimparks.org/images/conserva ... 202014.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Here is the selection criteria for Lion Trophies. So apparently lion trophy hunting is allowed in the park under certain conditions.

I could not find any stories about Cecil before his death on the website. The only stories about lions was one where some tourist actually saw a lion in the wild and the second was where lions killed an employee of the park in September of 2014.

Killing a mascot or well loved animal from a wildlife park is going to get you in trouble. My former late boss, went to England and went pheasant hunting on an estate.

He shot and killed the estate peacock. It actually made the British newspapers. Not being a hunter, it had to be explained to me how this was wrong on so many levels. He was not charged with a crime, the owners of the estate were not however happy with this American.

Uh-oh...The herd will go crazy about this.

"Cecil's brother Jericho was shot by a hunter and died at 4 p.m. local time, Johnny Rodrigues, chairman of the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force, told ABC News."

Im bored and want to agitate.
Fox News Channel personality Geraldo Rivera recently weighed in on Cecil the Lion and the controversy surrounding Walter Palmer, the Minnesota dentist who killed the beloved lion.

Even though I am not a fan of what he did, it would be bad to extradite him and give the evil autocrat Mugabi a trophy of a white American hunter.

But, what if he was aware that they were tempting this lion off of a protected area illegally and guilty of all that he is accused of? He's been in similar trouble before in the US. His first shot was with a crossbow. I'm thinking you gotta be pretty close for a shot like that. Could the lion's mane have hidden the collar that well? If he is guilty of all that he's accused of, I think he should be extradited. If he broke their laws, while in their country, he should be subject to their judicial system. We expect no less from someone that breaks our laws while in the US.

While he should have done better due diligence and perhaps have gone to an African country where they more or less do things the right way, I just don't think you can give up an American citizen to a judicial system so rife with human rights abuses and miscarriages of justice.

That is somewhat similar to the argument that some muslims are using in this country to say that they should not be judged by US laws. I'm not saying the guy should be hung out to dry and I'm not against hunting even if it is just for a trophy. I just don't think he should be given a free pass on this if he knowingly did what he's accused of just because he's an American. If he was duped by those over there, then I don't know what should happen. However, while possible, it doesn't seem that likely.

A second lion was illegally hunted by an American. This is not the brother of Cecil, who was reported killed yesterday, this happened two months ago.

Apparently they are going over records or something now. Maybe looking for money, who knows.

This is Zimbabwe after all run by President Robert Mugabe, who has pretty much destroyed the country economically. From the stories I have heard, it would be hard for me to plan a vacation in central Africa.

I would have to say if I was a trophy hunter, I would be cancelling my plans to hunt in Zimbabwe.

Looks like this will end badly for everyone as the their economy seems to need this sort of trophy business.

To avoid extradition, some feel the US fish and wildlife service should indite the guy. I'm more of a let Zimbabwe take care of it as long as the crime and evidence back up the charge. Don't visit overseas places and break their laws if you don't like their jails.

Cecil's brother is alive supposedly. And he's not a brother, but his companion.

:iagree:

I don't feel like his story is adding up at all and our extradition treaty with Zimbabwe is pretty clear cut from what I'm reading. Maybe send a lawyer from Fish and Game over with him, but I don't think he's gonna beat this one from here.

Regardless of what happens to him, to call this guy a hunter besmirches the good name of all ethical hunters out there.

5 dead service members at a recruiting station and people are worried about what a Dentist did with a lion? Sorry I think there are more important things that need fixing or attention than the death of one soulless creature.
