First they say they won't serve the open carry crowd now this store won't serve police.
Seems anti American to me and this business doesn't belong in Texas.
That's absurd. Some idiot employee on a late night shift dislikes cops and it's supposed to mean something? Whataburger has always been pro cop. Middle of th night and just the drive thru is open I've always seen cops inside eating because not only do they let the cops eat in the otherwise closed restaurant, but they give a discount also. Heck a couple here in Houston give a discount to cops that go thru the drive thru.

Note to self, Ellis really likes Whataburger

No, I don't think that's right. What he's saying here is that it is absurd to judge a company to be not worthy of existing in Texas because one (immediately fired) rogue employee did something that was (a) against the company's policy and (b) contrary to their long standing tradition of friendliness to LEOs.

Both Vol Texan & EEllis nailed it.
One rogue employee does not policy make...
Me, I do love WB. If I could daily eat a Double Meat/Double Cheese burger and masses of fries I would. As it is, I have to limit myself to only 2 a month, plus a heap helping of their de-licious fries!
I don't resent them for their OC stance one iota.

Rogue employee is now claiming it was all a joke, he's a righteous family man and they've started a GoFundYourself campaign for him. I'll give this one until the end of the week before someone screams "racism" because of the ethnicities involved.

The sad sack employee at Arby's who refused to serve an LEO, just like the WB dimwit, also claimed it was just a joke...
So, if you're caught doing something despicable, the fall back position is: It was just a joke.
Oh yeah, I'm fooled...

You don't seem fooled.
If it were really a joke they would have done it, seen the expression on their faces, and then in the next instant said that they were just kidding and offered them their meal for free. However, that didn't happen.

I neglected to ask: What are the ethnicities involved?
Officer white - WB employee black?
Officer black - WB employee white?
Any racial outcry and I sincerely hope there isn't any, would justifiably come from the officer.

I don't know and haven't heard anything regarding that issue. I was in that very Whataburger on Tuesday of this week and couldn't tell you what the ethnicity of the employees were when I was there.

The fired employee is black, the officers involved are white.

That dang fried pie. I tried so hard to like it, but I just can't...Blame it on my northern roots, I guess.
I'll gladly chow down on a couple of A1 Thick and Hearty Burgers though.

I have found the management at various Whataburgers around the state to be spotty. The refusal to serve LEO at the one in Lewisville is a good example.
The best Whataburger I ever had was at their store in Corsicana, Texas.
Give me a green chili double any day!
@Taypo---northern roots! You must prefer corned-beef to good old Texas brisket!

Lol, hardly. Got a bad Reuben back in the day, can't touch the stuff anymore. I do love me some Pastrami, but not as much as a good 18 hour smoked brisket.
