I was able to get a Bucket of Bullets Goldens this morning at the Mesquite Academy for $69. At 1500 rounds, that makes is $.046 per round. I was delighted to get them.

I don't think it's going to be any cheaper than 4-5 cents per round. The stuff I bought at WalMart was 4.4 -5 cents per round. The Federal AutoMatch price was a surprise at $16.97 for 325 rounds. I have knuckle dragged at several sporting goods (Academy, Dick's Gander Mountain and WalMart) while I'm up in Mansfield including Burleson. The only Walmart that had .22 ammo was the one I mentioned at I20 and Hwy 287 . I remarked to the guys there about there being no firearms on display noticed there and an elderly clerk said WalMart is going to stop selling guns in "metro" stores and only handle them at the "rural" stores. Mansfield sells guns so must be is rural, but 6 or 7 miles north in Arlington is Metro! :headscratch I don't know if what he said is true, but all the stores in my city, Pasadena, no longer have guns displayed.

Our local Cabelas has .22 ammo in stock almost all the time, now - quite often without any limits. Our local Gander Mountain store is well stocked in .22 ammo as well.

Mail order, a lot of folks are using http://midsouthshooterssupply.com with good resultd if you're looking for something other than cheap ammo. For instance: Norman 22LR 40gram target loads are 50/$5.95 in stock right now, as is 2500 rounds of Tactical 22LR 40grain target for $249.50, also in stock.

Can't hardly use 'lack of ammo' as an excuse any more.
I was in the Buda Cabelas yesterday.....they had 1000 round bricks of a couple brands I've never seen before, some 333, and lots of 100 rounds boxes of Remington and Winchester....no limits.
I saw some of that Tactical 22 at Cabelas the other day and passed on it because id never heard of it before. Any experience with it?
The folks over on Rimfire Central seem to think highly of it. And these are folks that take their .22 shootin' irons seriously!

I almost started a "Show you Pink Guns" Thread. My latest .22 rifle. It's a Christmas gift for my oldest grand daughter who will be 8 years old in January.
