I used to walk around with 72 rounds on me.
That's okay. You only need to worry if you have 75 or more.

Sorry went and looked, and the xdm holds 19 per, not 18. So was 76 rounds. So was a walking evacuation zone. Then I switched to a glock 17, and switched one of the mag holders to a flashlight holder. Was a great choice, I've used the flashlight all the time.

Well I'm in trouble! I have a 100 round 5.56 mag and it's fully loaded! Should I evac my house and call the bomb squad?

No, just set the house on fire yourself and do a controlled burn.

I wonder if they told the people that evacuated why they had to be evacuated? That it was because some old ammunition was found.
Question: If the police come to your house saying you have to evacuate for safety reasons, do you have to go? Can you tell them to shove it and stay home? I figure they wouldn't bother telling you why.

Unless they could tell me why and I thought it was a good reason I wouldn't go.
"You need to evacuate."
"Why?"
"We can't tell you that, you just need to go."
"No thank you." *close door*

I was trying to find other stories on this. I only found one link. There are dozens of gun forum links so this one has spread far and wide.

No new information.

A contractor was replacing pipes on Saturday and found a case of practice explosives under the home.
Practice WHAT????

... Holey Exaggeration Batman...
Inside the box were 75 rounds of practice 40-caliber ammunition.
Practice WHAT???? Practice? so Snap caps? or FMJ target rounds? And still, calling them .40 cal, meaning not the 40 years old some reports claimed.
A 300 foot radius was established around the home, and people in the six homes nearby were evacuated.
OK, so IF...IF that contractor called 911 and reported EXPLOSIVES in the basement... IF, the 911 operator was not able to elicit more information. IF the 911 operator actually believe EXPLOSIVES were the subject of this call out and not .40 cal practice ammunition.. THEN MAYBE I can see the SA PD and EOD team response. Old, likely unstable EXPLOSIVES in the quantity that might be the size of a box of 75 rounds could indeed level that home.. A block of C4 or PE4 or RDX (the main component in C4) or SEMTEX or even few sticks DYNAMITE could make a pretty impressive bang.
San Antonio police do not anticipate filing any charges.

Of course not.. what could possible be a chargeable offence?

The sad thing is if you copy that article headline into Google, you can see there are a couple other stories that come up that are similar.

Considering many of these officers probably carry 40 cal handguns, I really hope they did the 300 foot clear zone before they knew what was actually found.

I can just hear Nancy Grace now in her shrill voice - They found SEVENTY-FIVE ROUNDS of old bullets. Oh what potential carnage.

Regardless of the round count, I don't think that most people on this forum and LEOs carry rusted and corroded ammunition. At least I hope not.

I don't know Bill. I think the 500 rounds of .22 CB shorts I have in my truck are showing signs of corrosion. They're not shiny bright anymore.

I hope I'm not searched if I get stopped.
Edited: I am going to remove them, put them into hermetically sealed mayonnaise jars and place them in a secret place lest some one should web search my location and try to relieve me of them!
