I use 124 .P+ but myreasoning is a little different.. My range ammo is Winchester Nato which is 124, and has a little more recoil than standard Winchester White Box .. It seems to me the ballistic trajectory and recoil is about the same on either ammo. It "feels" the same anyway. seems to shoot the same also.

Why do I use HST? See the test below vs Corbon. I was never a fan of glazer safety slugs either.

Nope. Those still don't have the rating that the rounds I use do. These are only 450FPE at 2000 fps. The Pow'RBall rounds are slower, but rated at 483FPE. The energy transfer is key IMO. A good example is a 12 gauge slug has a rating of 2222 FPE. Would be a MUCH better defense round due to the weight of the slug.
I've shot those rounds at car doors and windshields. They did not perform well at all. I also have doubts in the penetration. I have not tested them in gel yet though.

For those that think 147gr 9mm doesn't perform.

I have no doubts in that round but I found the 124 and 147 standard HST actually penetrated farther. I ran dry of 147, so now I'm stocked up on 124 HST standard pressure. Ranger T would be my second choice. Also I am using a 3.9 inch barrel.

I tried to order some from GT distributors but they were out on +p. I was able to get .45 +P 230 Gr for 28 and change. HST 50 round boxes. Pretty good price considering other sources.

The simple version is that you can't go far wrong with any current major manufacturer's hollow points as long as you do your job on shot placement.

I currently carry Hornady 135gr Critical Duty.
I have tested the new 80gr. Ruger / Polycase ARX +P. The accuracy was very good and the velocities over my chronograph actually exceeded the advertised velocities; however, I have not switched.
