I am glad that I was wrong on the law. Sorry to be such a pain but I just thought something was being overlooked. I am not an expert on reading the laws as pertaining to weapons in Texas. Again my sincere apologies for being mis-informed.

One other caution: Texas is unusual when it comes to carrying loaded long guns. Most other states prohibit loaded long guns in a vehicle as part of their game & fish laws.
So, it would be a good idea to read up on other states if you do any traveling.

Please don't sweat it. There is a TON of misinformation out there, and we are here to help.
Be sure to promptly pay my bill when it arrives.

Everyone is right on, you can even carry a Class 3 rifle concealed if you wish. However, PLENTY of cops will draw guns when they walk up and see a 12 gauge. I used to drive a 4X4 Blazer and I had a pistol grip Mossberg held with a custom bracker between the drivers seat and the center console. Perfectly legal. I had guns pulled twice by cops that saw that barrel and went nuts. I also was in the back of a cop car in cuffs for "carrying a concealed weapon" until I finally told the cop he really may want to call this one in first because he was making a big mistake. He eventually let me go with a "warning".

I do all the time. Just remember not to park on Post Office property. Makes it hard on my wife when she has to walk further but, I don't disarm and won't be the test case.

The time I was in the back of a cop car with in Ferris and it was a Ferris city cop, probably in the '93-'94 time frame. Another time I was coming into Dallas on I45 and got stopped by a DPD cop. I was coming from from College Station for a job interview (my first time ever visiting Dallas); the cop saw a 12 gauge sticking out of my book bag in the back seat and pulled his piece.

As modified, I really like it. It easily holds my riot guns or Mini-14.
Everyone is right on, you can even carry a Class 3 rifle concealed if you wish.
There is no charge in Texas about a "concealed weapon". The law is not unclear AT ALL. If the law does not proscribe conduct, it is legal.

I knew there was a reason I liked you guys...
