I'm completely baffled by your post.
I build habitat for critters to live with brush from fences, pasture and elsewhere away from the house. More food sources away from the house than around the house. At least that's my rationale for the brush piles. It's either too wet or too dry to burn 'em.
Clear as mud?

We had a 7' alligator under the carport when we lived on a lake near Disney World a long time ago. The fish and Game people came and took it away. I don't quite know how I'd go about shooting a snake in our garage with a shotgun..... :headscratch

I understand killing a poisonous snake. However, TT's snake posed her no threat and meant her no harm. It was there looking for food probably because the garage door was left up and a frog came in. Did she act as a animal predator and eat it ? She acted like ISIS killing a christian......because we are here, and they can. I don't understand this irrational fear of snakes.

Did you seriously just compare me to ISIS? :mad5

If you want to compare with politicized references, then how about I didn't let the refugee into my country because I could not VERIFY if he was a harmless rat snake or a terrorist.....

You don't know if it meant harm or not.

Same logic.....your Dad already had him out side. Maybe you need to learn to ID snakes.

And you think he wouldn't have comeback to hunt in the same area? I was 3 steps behind the frog about to walk through the same strike path with my mom walking right behind me.

I know very little about snakes, wasn't close enough or enough light outside to clearly see the head shape, so there was only one way to be sure he would not be a threat the next day or the day after when we walked out....not that I have to explain my decision to you, or really give a flying what you think. You don't know me or anything about me.

PS did you know I've held a 20' boa constrictor? That sound like an irrational fear of snakes to you?

Sounds like you held a feed boa with 5 other handlers in some park.

Copperheads do eat frogs and rattlesnakes will occasionally as well. The food source is not a determining factor if a snake is venomous. ( Poisons by the way are ingested or absorbed while venoms are injected.) Color patterns, the shape of the iris, and most of the time the shape of the head are the basis of identification. It seems that the topic of snake killing is about as volatile as the discussion of having a round chambered or not. Forum members stating people whining as someone did this morning or comparing people to ISIS is probably not warranted in my opinion.

Why is everyone ragging on this guy?!? 410 was made for this reason! One handed shotgun... Yes... Lower the snake population and rat and mouse population increase but at least they dont really bite you! :biggrinjester:

Stop the insinuations and personal attacks, or the Topic will be closed and someone may get a timeout.

Rats and mice pose a greater risk to your health than a nonvenomous snake. I apologize to TT if I offended her and use an inappropriate analogy. However, I still consider killing a beneficial snake to be foolish
