You must be some kind of genius. I've rebuilt carburetors and superbike motors, but that daggum 22/45 has gotten the best of me most of the time.

No, you only need to hold your mouth right, work on it during the proper phase of the moon, and mutter the proper incantations, and then it will assemble as it should.

You also need a suture kit and a transfusion setup. You probably shouldn't start until you've already got the IV line in place so that you don't have to fumble with it while cussing and your hands are trembling.

FWIW
- S&W does not furnish a torque spec for the take down screw
- some shooters have a problem with the screw loosening, some do not
- lock washers or threadlock have been used with success (so far purple/loctite 222)
- gun does not cycle reliably with subsonic ammo (if you plan to use a can with the threaded barrel, I guess you find a different spring)

"I have had the washer on mine sine I got it and ordered the washers have run through about 2,500 rounds thru it in league and practice hasn't loosened up yet. Be warned that the lock washer isn't a standard washer it is a special sized for the allen head cap screw. A #12High Collar washer, only place I found that had them is Fastenal part# 33685 you will have to order 100 of them and the shipping will cost more than the washers. If you are going to use a thread locker use ultra-tite VC-3 theard locker, it never hardens and you can remove and re-tighten the screw and the locker will hold. Small tubes are sold on Amazon."

Personally, I'd wait for version 2. My first pistol was a used S&W Model 639 9mm that had a similar problem The screw that held the ambidextrous thumb safety wouldn't stay tightened despite being properly torqued and with Loctite. It was very frustrating to carry tools every time I went to the range. Regarding the Mark IV, the possibility exists we'll see something similar, it's too new to know.

I don't think either of them is in the near future for me. It is becoming more prevalent that we're being used as beta testers and I for one object to spending my hard earned money on something only to have to send it back for repair. Or worse yet, having to live with it because the company won't repair it. The latest greatest is just not for me, I've learned to be patient. Sometimes it's really, really hard though. I'd sure like to try out one of those Mark IV's.
