We're the public, all we ever have to go on is the news. Our hypotheses will change as new information becomes available.

Now that's funny! I don't care who you are.

My .02 is that the news media ALWAYS distorts news reports when guns are involved, in an attempt to hype boring news and get people to read or watch. They're not called the "drive-by" media for nothing.

LOL

I am making a point that we need to be careful about spouting off that which we know little, if not nothing, about.

I KNOW the case he is referring to is the one in MURPHY, not WYLIE, where child PREDITORS, not PORNOGRAPHERS or CONSUMERS, were arrested in a sting set up by a TV NEWS CREW using the local police without the knowledge of the COUNTY attorney of Collin County.

During that sting, a DA from another county failed to show for the meet in Murphy, so the news crew and police when to that DA's house, where that DA proceeded to shoot himself.

Collin County DA Roach refused to prosecute the cases. It appears that our Monkey believes that means that child porn users in Wylie won't be prosecuted.

I would like BrassMonkey to tell me how he thinks those pedophiles "got away with it" and how that is the fault of the DA.

weapons caches

What bothers me about reports like this is the way the guns are described:

"....large cache of weapons...."
"...including assault rifles...."
"...several semi-automatic handguns..."
"...found an arsenal of weapons.."
"...over 1000 rounds of ammunition.."

In most cases, such as the one that started this thread, they go on to describe a small collection of (usually) perfectly legal weapons.

I shudder to think what they'd call the humble collection in my back bedroom. And I bet many of you have a collection that makes me look like a pauper.
I have more guns around my house than most of the "caches" that get reported on the news. I probably have enough ammo to provoke an arched eyebrow on the 10:00 news.

Well, maybe not if we don't count the blackpowder stuff ;-)

I was being fasichious(sp? No time for the dictionary at the moment) I was stretching the truth and known facts like the media does... I guess I was trying to make a point by acting like they do...

Getting their Daily Cyber-ManMakers in!!

I recall the same exertions when Garret Mallot defended himself on March 28th on a Houston Bus.

That's cool. Didn't know there was such an animal. Just don't shoot a dummy round and have a buddy downrange try to catch it with a baseball glove--actually happened and broke the guys hand!

According to Fox 4 News the weapons were perfectly legal:

DALLAS -- The man who's downtown Dallas apartment was raided in a weapons seizure Wednesday has not been charged with any crime. Investigators say it appears all of the guns and ammunition are legal and a shoulder fired rocket launcher may only get him a citation. FOX 4's Emily Lopez has details.

you can watch the video here:

http://www.myfoxdfw.com/myfox/pages/New ... geId=3.2.1

So what if the guy had a grenade launcher, I know people who own similar surplus military hardware and its all legal. of course it has all been rendered inoperable, but they own the pieces for historical purposes.

how illegal?

It must not be VERY illegal, if all he gets for it is a citation.
Some sort of obscure city ordinance?

Sure would like to know what he was cited for. I'm not where I can listen to the video, if it's in there.
