To the helpful people thank you ever so much for taking the time.
Guess I just didn't find the jokes overly funny.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress changed me for the better. We were on a rare family trip by air when I was a kid. I barely had the money for the paperback in the airport gift shop, but I'm told there's no such thing as a free lunch. It was worth it.The Annoyed Man wrote:It's the sequel to "Time Enough for Love", and I read them both in the 70s.tomneal wrote:I first read about Kilt Carry in:

I think it was a blaster not a hand gun but it's been a while...
I read the book in the mid 1960's.

I think your said brush has been painting with ignorance.CleverNickname wrote:I'm going to paint with a broad brush here, but in my experience kilt-wearers seem to be the sort of attention-seekers who would prefer open carry.

Perhaps you meant "prequel" instead of"sequel"....Methuselah's Children first appeared in 1941 as a series in Astounding Science Fiction, and was expanded into a full length novel in 1958. Time Enough for Love was published in 1973. And Time Enough for Love is set in the far future of the setting of Methuselah's Children. It's the sequel to "Time Enough for Love", and I read them both in the 70s.
Sequel, prequel, tomayto, tomahto ......RSX11 wrote:Perhaps you meant "prequel" instead of"sequel"....Methuselah's Children first appeared in 1941 as a series in Astounding Science Fiction, and was expanded into a full length novel in 1958. Methuselah's Children is my all time favorite book - I've read it at least once a year since 1967, and can now recite long parts of it. It's the best example of fiction that tells how we were sure the future was going to turn out, looking forward from the 40s.
