Excellent, and very thoughtful.

Of course, you'll agree that many of the dedicated "carry purses" do in fact orient the weapon horizontally...and these are the ones I was referring to.

The plain fact is this: As much as it is desirable to not point the muzzle of a gun at anyone, at certain times... with most modes of carry, we find that rule impossible to abide by.

I am not arguing for a cavalier attitude concerning gun safety. I am simply pointing out that "in the real world" the idea of NEVER pointing your muzzle (while holstered or secured) is often compromised or circumvented in one fashion or another.

So, I challenge everyone here to examine whether they cover themselves (or others) using the mode(s) of carry they have chosen.

If you do....and you subscribe to "NEVER let your muzzle cover......." then I must ask each person to reconcile this.

My position on it is simply:

Make certain your weapons safety feature(s) function correctly.

Choose a holster (or other means of carry) that ensures the trigger is covered... or can not otherwise be manipulated.

Put the weapon where you intend to carry it, and then leave it alone!

As much as possible (with consideration given to your personal carry needs), try not to point the muzzle at anyone.
