She never said that her son used a firearm to kill his father.

She mentioned several things that could be investigated such as her call to the gun store, her call to the Austin Police and her son's purchase of "an arsenal of guns at a big box store" and I don't know the perjury laws but she could probably be called in to an investigation whereby she could be asked questions regarding her testimony. I don't know who enforces such things in the Texas legislature, but I'll bet there are plenty of experts around who do know...

When I see the cavalier treatment of these witnesses, now and previous public hearings, it makes me wonder how much importance the testimonies really have in the Texas legislature. I DO know that dishonest witnesses in the U.S. congressional hearings get LOTS of attention by the law makers.

She did everything she could short of outright perjury to cause the listener believe that a gun killed her husband.
The entire storyline about her being unable to restrain her mentally unstable son from buying guns and amassing an "arsenal".... Obfuscation and intentional misdirection.

Because if the anti-gun lobby didn't have bad arguments, they wouldn't have any arguments at all.

HB910 has been favorably voted out of committee and is headed for the Senate for a vote. The timing for this hasn't been announced yet.

SB910, the open carry bill, was passed out of committee and now goes to the Senate floor for a final vote, then onto Abbott's desk.

I have one as well.....for those that can keep up with HB/SB/Amendment....etc....

So, as of today, the status is HB910 will be / should be voted on by the Senate, then sent to the Governor.

Today, that bill allows licensed open carry, but prohibits a peace officer from asking for a license "just because".

Am I getting this right?

Ummm no.

If the full Senate approves HB 910 in it's current state, with the Dutton amendment removed, it will need to go back to the House for a floor vote. I believe that vote would be yea or nay, with no opportunity for further amendments, but I'm not certain about that last part.

The House and Senate must pass identical bills before the Governor gets it to sign.
Yesterday the Senate committee sent up a substitute bill that removed the Dutton amendment from the House version.

Last day for HB910 would be a concur vote possible on May 31st, if it is unchanged on the Senate floor.
Idk, I may be wrong...if so someone will be along promptly to correct me.
