If it's to the governors desk.....it just needs to be inked.
I think they are always up to something stinky.......JMHO
They may be hatching a plan to kill Campus Carry in the other house, once and for all.
You may be right. Hope not!

What does this mean re: the Texas constitution? I did a search & it turned up a few sections.
The Texas Constitution requires the bill to be heard on 3 several days. They can suspend this rule, however.

Stage 6 is Governors desk.
Stage 7 Bill becomes law.

that was exactly what I understood him to say. He doesn't agree with open carry, but he understood that it was going to pass, because of that he was going to do what he could to "protect" he constituency and he felt that the amendment would do that.

This one?
(b) When such a period of emergency or the immediate threat of enemy attack exists, the Legislature may suspend procedural rules imposed by this Constitution that relate to:
(1) the order of business of the Legislature;
(2) the percentage of each house of the Legislature necessary to constitute a quorum;
(3) the requirement that a bill must be read on three days in each house before it has the force of law;

I doubt it, section (b) doesn't seem to be fulfilled.

Why does the bill have to go back to the House? Is what passed the Senate not exactly the same language as the House version?

I would agree it is not, but its all I could find with relevance in Article 3.

That's what the confusion is right now. We don't know because we can't find the amendment just passed(or has not been published at this point in time), and compare the language to both amendments.

Huffines kept saying that the "exact" amendment had passed in the house. So it would make no sense that it's not the same.

Someone posted on OCT FB page that there is a single word difference, possibly due to clerical error, between the Dutton and Huffines amendments.
