The Scott family is serious about
keeping his death in the public eye. They will be flying a banner at the US Surfing Open alleging a Las Vegas police coverup.

The comments about this case on various web sites are amazing, or would be if I hadn't lost respect for a large fraction of the population. Various anonymous commentators claim to know what happened, and either the cops are murderers or Mr. Scott was a lunatic.

Had Mr. Scott not been of the white peruasion, this apparent travesty would have been headlines played and replayed on every media network. That's sad, but that's the way it is.
ITMT, somebody (perhaps a lot of somebodies) know/s something and they ain't talkin'. The C of C and other tourism folk certainly don't want it to get out that Vegas is a "shoot first, ask questions later" community. If the matter is not kept alive, it will surely slip quietly into the night.

This white self-pity is not a pretty sight.

Mr. Scott's problem was somehow letting that fact that he was armed become known. In the minds of most people, that seems to be proof of criminal activity or "looking for trouble." That is enough for the media to write him off as a dangerous man who was stopped short.
On top of that, there is no video. These stories go nowhere without video.

This incident is a tragedy on several levels and I have been following this thread intensely.
My take aways at this point are:
1.Like the man said earlier, concealed means concealed. If you are made, its most likely your fault.
2.If you are made, leave quietly and unobtrusively, this is not the time or place to be arguing 2A rights.
3.Some people are scared to death of guns, have never handled one, maybe never even seen one up close. They cannot imagine any rational reason why a 'normal' person would carry one. (I worked with a guy like this once). They will most likely assume you are some kind of crazed nut and will not be approaching the situation rationally.
4. My 'normal' may be your 'erratic'.
5. Peace officers have, arguably, the most demanding of all civilian jobs, and my default position has always been to assume the officer had some rational reason for his action, maybe not the way I would have approached it, and maybe not the way he would approach it given a second go 'round after access to more facts, but this case seems so far off the chart that it is hard to see it for anything other than what Erick's family thinks it is.

Last night it was one month since the shooting the family held a candlelight vigil at the Costco.

They are keeping there story in the news, but without any video, this continues to be hard.

The Scott family has sent out a message to the people who have signed up on Facebook at Erik's memorial page.
They have heard rumors that a cell phone video exists of the shooting, but the people who took it are afraid to come forward. They are encouraging them to meet with them directly about it. I suspect if it existed, it would already be on youtube.
I also have heard that the Las Vegas police cars are not equipped with video.

Can you source this? But either way it would not surprise me if the cruisers simply wern't facing the incident. (Or it was corrupt data or something, which happens all too often, but of course I don't know here)

So, we still have no 911 tape released, and no security camera footage?
Anyone know why? Other than the fact Costco and the Police have a huge need to have them either be edited or disappear...

Sorry, I think I read this at Nevada Shooters, but not sure.
This was another police shooting at another armed good guy, but this time here in Texas.

I bet the people who have the video would have released it long ago if it helped their case.

No it's not, but they have a valid point. The coverage would probably be very different if Mr. Scott had been a West Point graduate of color, just as their coverage of the CT murderer (and beer thief) would have been different if he was Euro-American and shot coworkers with a different ethnic background.

Imagine the trouble that could have been prevented if LAPD seized the King video before it could go public.
