Renewals only require a single card, the FBI card.
I received my Renewal Packet in October and it contained two fingerprint cards! Both had Texas Seals on them but one was blue printing and the other was black printing.

I will also add here that with the change in application fees for Veterans, our checklist should also contain a note to ensure you include a COPY of your DD-214 (Honorable) to receive your 50% Discount of the application fee. Just a COPY is fine and it does not have to be notarized.

One note on the DD-214, make sure you send the version of the form that shows your discharge status (Honorable) field on the bottom. I didn't realize I had 2 versions, one with that field and one without till they sent me a letter for the correct version.

Yes, but only one needs to be returned to DPS

Blue printed card is FBI card, black is the state card. If you go to local police department they can give you another blue card. Submit 2 blue cards to DPS.

Thanks for posting the tip on being born overseas. My father was in the service at the time. I later did 21 years of my own.

As a result of your post, I was able to include copies of my passport, birth certificate, and my certificate of naturalization in my package.

Thanks!

Tom

No, renewals only require ONE card. The blue one. All packets have 2 cards.

It wasn't listed on the non-resident checklist in the application packet I received from DPS but don't let that fool you. If you don't provide it you'll get a very polite letter saying they cannot process your application. No - your driver license number on the application documents is not sufficient. :banghead:

Note: This is in addition to the "Out of State Contacts for Background Investigation" document (which is on the checklist, and which I did provide.)

I hope this information is of some help to other non-resident applicants.
EXCELLENT suggestion. DPS wants BOTH sides of the DL, too.
