I've put, I think, 428 rounds through it.
I was having a failure to return to battery about three times every 100 rounds. I think it's smoothing up to about once in a hundred. Still way too much. We'll see what happens.
Kimber recommends a 400 round brake-in period. I'm just barely there. (Which I think it a little extreme. It should have the kinks worked out by around 150.)
I still love it. If it continues to have feed issues, I'll send it to Kimber to work on. But I have no doubt this will be my #1 carry gun for a long time.

...well that sounds pretty positive. I did keep mine oiled more than i normally do. I actually never have oil so heavy on the gun that you can see it, but i was told by someone to keep it well oiled during break in so I went silly with it. I put a couple drops of miltec oil on each side of the slide rails about every 30 rounds.

They aren't kinks. It's extra metal where Kimber does a phenomenal job making sure the gun is TIGHT. it just needs to wear in.
if you followed Flint's Fluff n' Buff procedure, you shouldn't have any issues.

I thought I would give a range report update on my Ultra Carry. I had been getting a little concerned with the dependability of the pistol. It seemed like it would either fail to go into full battery or it would stove pipe. It did not do it alot but it was acting up 3 or 4 times during a session of 150-200 rounds. I was having to oil the pete out of it to keep it running. Well, today I fired 150 rounds through it(fifty of the Wolf steal case) with not one malfunction and not one drop of oil during shooting. I had left my oil at home by mistake. I swear I think it is getting more accurate the more I shoot it.

Anyway...I have come to the opinion that Kimbers like to be broken in before serious usage. I just crossed over 650 rounds fired through her.

I used Mr. Knapper's method on my Kimber UC II before I fired my first round through it and have NEVER had a failuer in about 1000 rounds.

I've had my Tactical Ultra II for many years now. It is my primary carry and I have the utmost faith in it's operation.

After the required break-in, Kimbers are extremely reliable.

I have a clean Kimber Custom II Target with several hundred rounds, including various reloads, through it. So, how do I know when it's safe to carry it for protection? As I've said before, sometimes it gets mad and won't go bang for reasons known only to her.

My Taurus PT 1911 and my two XD's always go bang as does my Hi Power.
