Well, just one example. At my previous job, one of my coworkers had an unexpected medical issue. He had a seizure while at work, and of course the ERT guys showed up and an ambulance was called, when the EMTs got there they would certainly have uncovered a gun if he were carrying it. Any sort of on-the-job injuries or accidents could result in exposure of your gun while they are being treated or dealt with. You necessarily yield control of your person if you are unconscious or involved in a medical emergency.

There are other examples as well. I just don't feel like listing a bunch now, but I have thought about this quite a bit. I could probably conceal my LCP in a SmartCarry and eliminate 99% of these chances of being discovered but then the gun is hardly more useful than it is in my car, and it's very uncomfortable to carry that way. It's a balance of issues.

Then you're doing it wrong. Move things around until it feels right and you can get to it. Granted, I think Charlie's insane if he actually can forget he's carrying a Gov't Model in a SmartCarry, but once I quit trying that and pinned the pocket down to size for my snub, I can easily arrange it to not bother me, and still maintain as fast a draw as with a tuckable IWB.

Thanks for pointing that out :roll:

Remember that you have never tried to do this wearing MY CLOTHES with MY BODY. And if you don't recall from several months ago, clearly I am not inclined to dress around my gun. The SmartCarry is wickedly uncomfortable for me and unless I change my wardrobe, it's extremely difficult to draw. But who cares? That wasn't the question. I'm not going to carry while inside the building.

That one is pretty good...LOL. I always forget about my own mortality. Having a heart attack or stroke is something that happens to other people, not me. :leaving

You wake up in the hospital and the boss tells you he is glad you made it and then tells you your fired for that gun that fell out when you hit the ground. "rlol"

Yeah the guy who had the seizure had never had one before and was about 30 years old, healthy, normal guy.

We also occasionally had people get bonked on the head by accident and get knocked out cold, etc. You never know when this kind of thing might happen to you. I have awakened before laying flat on the ground with my wife and parents looking at me on the ground after having hit my head without seeing it coming or remembering it happening. This kind of thing happens.

Once I had to disclose that I was carrying because I had a cut on my back that would not stop bleeding (long, bizarre story), had to get someone to take me to the ER, and since I had to hold pressure on this thing I had to get assistance disarming and locking my gun in my car before going into the ER. This was just like three months ago while I was between jobs and at another person's place of business. But it was awkward to say the least, and totally within the realm of reality.

So you know, you cannot always control how "concealed is concealed".

Dude, putting pants on so you can wear the SmartCarry outside the Speedo is harldy "dressing around the gun."

And FWIW, yes, I did carry my .357 in the SmartCarry over a speedo, under swim trunks once at a rather remote swimming area. (it was due for a through cleaning anyway, so I figured nothing would motivate me to do the job right like taking it for a swim in lake water - 2 years later, I've changed springs and slicked up the trigger, and have yet to find any corrosion)

I don't get why this rule is any different than any of the other rules broken 50 times a day at the office.
Ummm...no teetotaler here, but the penalty for carrying after being specifically told that it was not allowed (see unlawful carry of a firearm) is much more severe than a speeding ticket. Heck, getting fired is much more severe than a single speeding ticket. :roll:

As for how they would know, well, all the stories about pistols falling out of pockets in the bathroom stall, flying out during a fall, shirt tails getting caught as someone bends over, etc. just didn't seem to make much of an impression on ya, did they???

People make mistakes in this as much as anything else. Some mistakes are more costly than others. If you want to toy with getting fired, so be it, but don't ridicule those of us who refuse to take that risk...so to each their own and have a nice day. :smilelol5:

A properly concealed hand gun should NEVER fall on the floor. if it does, you need to re-evaluate your method of carry. I know for a fact that my gun will not just fall out of the holster.

Now the response concerning passing out was valid. I will modify what I said, short of a medical emergency that renders you unconscious, there is no good reason for one to expose the fact that they have a concealed weapon. With the exception of when one must use the weapon to defend one's self.

The point I was trying to make is that they would never know your carrying if you are properly concealing your weapon. I like to think of it as a don't ask/don't tell kind of thing. Each person has to decide what risk they want to take for themselves.

P.S. I was not ridiculing anyone. You have a nice day as well... :mrgreen:

Ge a small safe and mount it in your trunk.
Like this;

Then add two or three layers of builder board to the interior
This stuff;

Works great.

I have one mounted in the diamond plate toolbox in the bed of my truck for some things I need locked up and not in the cab have them in the cab and the "tattle tale thermometer" has never been over 115 here in Houston

You aren't going to convince him, man. The way he describes things, he wouldn't even be able to conceal a little NAA .22 with a folding grip, and won't make any changes to accommodate even that.

For posterity, the post he's referencing starts here and goes on for several pages:

If it's that bad, there are other reasons to get the problem solved surgically. :lol:
