I agree.

Getting a large corporation to change this kind of policy is like turning around an oil tanker. Most companies answer nearly all customer complaints. They probably are stonewalling on this issue.

The only reversal that I can recall hearing of was Taco Cabana. In their case, the consensus is that the volume of bad-mouthing on the web got to them.

As advice, I agree but as a legal question I disagree. Under the MPA, anyone can have a pistol in the car concealed. BUT, under the traveling exception in 46.15, the unlawfully carrying chapter does not apply. This means you can open carry if you want. You can do so in the car or while walking or riding your horse.

The question is how to be sure you are traveling. Since the CCA says this is a fact to be determined by the jury, it is a like a roll of the dice. Knowing that, I use the keep it concealed as advice and good tactics, but knowing the law helps in case of an accident.

Thank you txcommish. It is important for all of us to let the businesses who post these signs know that we will take our business elsewhere if they choose to maintain those policies. A polite, respectful, well written letter is a great way to do it. Then we have to follow up and really take our business to other establishments if they don't change their policy. I will follow in your example.

I still will not darken the door of a Taco Cabana. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants owned by real Mexicans (generically speaking) who live in Texas.

That is cool. I haven't eaten there for a few years since seeing those signs. I haven't even been through the drive through. I used to love the eggs mexican combo for breakfast and my daughter liked the little personal quesadillas. I do like TC better than Taco Bell or Bueno.

Thats how I read the law also. I was under the impression that a handgun had to be concealed in your car. Then I read the exceptions and as you stated...if you are "traveling" TPC 46.02 does not apply to you. Therefore you can OC.

I am not looking for a way to OC in my car I am just looking to further understand the laws.
