For the most part, Lightening, I'm like you. Not running around with blinders on. I certainly know that I/we can be targeted at any time. My garage door is open most of the time. Of course, I spend the vast majority of my day in "the cave", as my dearly beloved it refers to it. Prior to CHL, I kept my Mossberg next to me. Now I'll have my Beretta on me. Not looking for trouble, just ready if it rears its ugly head.
I never gave labels to my levels of alertness. Alert, Most Alert, and up to my neck in doo-doo pretty much sum it up for me.
Garage door gets closed when I come inside to eat or perform the odd bodily function. Inner door to house has double cylinder deadbolt in case they get in the garage. Hard to get into house from there. There have been cases I heard about where the top of the garage door is pushed in and the cable pulled on the door opener so it will open by hand, then the robbers are in.....Not in my house.
