Nixon, Reagan, and Bill Clinton were all supposed to "destroy the country." When George W. Bush was president, the loony left was talking about Bush declaring a state of emergency and canceling the 2008 elections, plus secret detention camps.
None of this happened, though Obama somehow inherited the secret detention camps.
I have problems closer to home that I can lose sleep over.

Maybe we're all better off if somebody like that doesn't get a CHL.
You realize that these are not the OP's questions, but questions other people have asked him.
Not only that, but aparently ole bart is pro-gun control as long as he is getting to decide who should have the right to carry and who shouldn't.

So how are you answering such questions? I want some good responses to convince my friends of the benefits of being licensed and carrying their guns concealed away from their homes to protect themselves and their loved ones and others.
Thanks for your help.
I formerly held the belief that adding my name to another state & federal database was not in my best interest. I preferred to live in quiet anonymity. On further reflection and upon reviewing the history of our founding fathers. I am now of the firm belief that we must make our voices heard. I now hold a CHL.

If you are that concerned pick up a few junkers and "give those up" when the knock comes. I have quite a collection and if this starts happening that collection will disappear real quick, except for some throwdowns. No one gets shot, goes to jail, etc so win win for everybody because a confiscation wont stand for too long.

We won two major 2A cases in the Supreme Court recently. 48 States now have some provision or other for allowing citizens to carry handguns in public with only two not - and one of them almost got a concealed carry law enacted (that makes only 50 states, Barry). Gun control laws in the US are starting to drop like flies. And we're worried about confiscations? Get real.

The 5 to 4 victories are hardly a ringing endorsment of the 2nd by the supreme court. We are one heartbeat away from 5 to4 being 4 to 5. Now thats real.

Cruikshank was a controversial 5-4 ruling, and look how long it stood. The Supreme Court is often almost childishly reluctant to admit that it has ever been wrong. One can hope it will be even more reluctant to do so when it wasn't wrong.

That's one way of looking at the issue, but they pretty much have to follow that policy (
stare decisis). Otherwise appellants would continue to bring the same or similar cases repeatedly. As it is, the U.S. Supreme Court refuses to hear about 90% of the cases that are filed.

I have purchased all of my firearms legally, I am licensed, buy ammo, and am a proud member of the NRA.....oh, and I have had an active hunting an fishing license since I was 15. THEY (whoever they are) know I have a few things in the house that go bang.
I also have my fingerprints, background, drug tests, and credit checks well documented due to my profession. And I travel to lots of international places. If I am not on a list somewhere, someone is not doing their job...that being said, there is nothing to find in my background.
Get over the conspiricy theories, be legal, and exercise your 2nd ammend rights. Be involved (NRA) and keep up with the what is going on.
I know lots of law enforcement....if the "new world order" tries to disarm us, many of them are the last to enforce it.

The only defense against the government pulling something as raw as gun confiscation is instilling fear in the politicians that the people will resist.
The MORE people that the government knows own guns openly, the less likely it is that the politicians will risk inciting rebellion. By getting your CHL you are stating openly that you are an advocate of the second admendment and are will to invest your own time and money to insure your ability to exercise the right.
Of course having a few firearms with no paper trail to you stashed somewhere with sealed ammo is a good backup plan just in case.

Thank you, Jeremae, for your cogent comments. As the OP of this thread that is drawing to a close, I think your comments are a fine end and cap off the many answers from other posters in response to the real concern that I've heard several times. And I've shared some of these answers with those you are asking me. I hope this thread has helped others prepare good answer that will encourage those they talk with to consider carrying their guns in exercise of their Second Amendment rights and to protect themselves and their loved ones.
