Ever been around someone trying to quit?

Being shot with a 30-30 is no more harmful and probably less harmful than being shot with a 30-06.

If marijuana does affect mental state, then the Oregon LEOs have a valid point about carrying a gun under the influence.
On the other hand, if marijuana doesn't affect mental state, pot smokers are wasting their money.
LOL, I'm not really disagreeing that it affects mental state. Although that mental state might be to eat more food. I'm just trying to say that it's really no more and maybe less harmful than alchohol. I agree w/the above posters that say it's about control.

No doubt it's addicting but my mom and dad both quit cold turkey. Sadly to say it was after my dad got lung cancer. I've tried pretty much everything and I guess I just don't have the addictive personality. I've never found anything I couldn't stop. When I was in high school I smoked cigarettes for a time, marijuana, a few other drugs but I never found anything I couldn't live w/out.

The thing everyone misses in the Intoxication law is the word IMPAIRED. If you blow a .06 but the officer feels you are impaired, you will be charged. You can be impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs, and prescription drugs and over the counter drugs.

And by lack of sleep. Luckily there's a drug you can take to fix that...

If someone doesn't have the coordination to pass a field sobriety test, I wonder if they have the coordination to safely operate a motor vehicle in public. There are exceptions, same as anything else, but if someone's driving was erratic enough to attract a cop's attention and they failed the field test, maybe we should consider the possibility they weren't safe to drive, no matter what political correctness says about age and infirmity.

I went to grade school with someone who now lives in California and is a huge proponent for medical marajajucci. He claimes it helps his medical condition. (an accident) Who knows he might have been high. I say just say no.

Story Here
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters has argued that issuing the license would violate federal law, specifically the Gun Control Act of 1968.

That argument was rejected by a trial court, the Oregon Court of Appeals and the Oregon Supreme Court in rulings that say state law on concealed handgun permits does not pre-empt federal law, the Mail Tribune reported Wednesday.

Cynthia Willis of Gold Hill acknowledged using medical marijuana when she filed her permit application with Winters in 2008, setting off the legal battle. She was issued a concealed handgun license after the sheriff lost in the Oregon Court of Appeals.
f/u to original topic. Looks like this case may be more about state/fed law than intoxication, but it kind of isn't.
