I'd say without.
Never used it during my 4 years in the military (even though it is the T in SPORTS). I never had a problem from skipping this step and it wasn't worth the extra delay to me.

I have been using my SP-1 sporter since 1976, same as my Dad. Neither of us have ever needed to use this feature and do not miss it. My main reason for not wanting it and many new features is the weight. If we keep adding to the package we will soon be needing to carry a M1 Garand to save weight!
The Original CAR-15 is about the perfect civilian home defense carbine, light weight, high capacity and simple.
