If you don't want a prostate exam, the first priority is don't get pulled over by DPS.

The reason I finally made the decision is primarily due to the backlash from Sandy Hook. I am horrified by that event! But the anti-gun groups are taking advantage of this situation to the detriment of law abiding citizens. I am concerned - very concerned - that they might just succeed with their agenda & if so my hope is grandfathering those who already have their CHL and/or guns. And of course the other reasons already mentioned. I especially like the comment about reason versus force - so true & thank you for expressing it so clearly for this GG grandma! I am also now a life member of the NRA. I don't always agree completely with their stance but from a political perspective I believe that organization is our best hope. Plus alot of prayer for our nation!

Well, i have never been in a situation where i needed a gun, except for when i was deployed. But i though to myself maybe that time has not come up yet, not that i am asking it too. And because the law says i can.

It's better to have a gun and not need one then to need a gun and not have one. Also, I like to exercise my right to bear arms.

Initially I thought it would be a good idea in case I get pulled over. I thought my CHL would let the officer know I wasn't one of the "bad" guys. Then my wife expressed concern over comming home late at night by herself. I aslo work late some nights. She called me one evening and asked that I call her before I enter the house. She said she has a gun by her side and would hate to accidently shoot me. That's when I decided we both needed to take the class, practice, and take some firearm classes.

In short, because of the world around us. I live on the same land that my Mother-n-law's business is on. It gets robbed about every three months or so. There have been two bank robberies in two weeks in my small town. Last year in Houston was the main reason for me pursueing my CHL. One night while shopping on Westhiemer, an Escalade pull next to me and my family at a stop light. A guy gets out of the rear driverside,we're on the passengersude of they're vehicle,and runs up and slaps my wifes driverside window and yell's. He was just goofing around but it got to really thinking. I did reach for my pistol which was under the passenger seat were I was. But it wasn't a threat so we laughed it off.
