The consensus was to meet at the 5 Guys. I have no idea what 5 Guys is like, having never been to one. I'm told it is a hamburger and fries joint.

Referring to the online site, I see it opens at 11 AM, so you can come early and get a good seat but not TOO early.

They better have iced tea.

There's one in the Arboretum and ever time I've gone there, it's been four guys and two ladies, or six guys and a lady, etc, and somebody ought to make them change their sign to match, realtime, so they're not falsely advertising.

They also give you unlimited peanuts in the shell, as if their servings aren't already big enough!

I suppose so. One of the peculiarities of living here again is "Sweet or unsweet?" at restaurants. I liked it better when those lazy Yankees had to put sugar in their own tea if they wanted it sweetened.

I have always thought of sweet tea as a southern tradition that has fairly recently made its way west to Texas. At least here, they still ask or default to unsweet tea. Go to Georgia or North Carolina and see what you get if you aren't specific. :)

New Yorkers ridiculously call coffee with milk in it "regular" coffee. I found that I had to specify that I wanted it black if I wanted it without milk.

I've been drinking ice tea all my life, and that goes back a ways. One of the things I had to get used to when I went to military duty in California was that ice tea wasn't available routinely everywhere one went, like it was here. There is still a Burger King I know of in San Diego that doesn't offer it, or didn't the last time I stopped in and left without buying anything.

I remember when we moved to CA from Texas, back when we first got married, I ordered sweet tea, got tea with a packet of sugar  it was a long 7 years.

I hate mixing the sugar in, it doesn't taste right, gotta make the simple syrup, or put honey or agave in it,

I know it's Texas cause I was born here 67 years ago and have never left. That being said, sweet tea tastes like some medicine I had as a kid. I can't tolerate it. UN-sweet for me along with black coffee.

Looks like a real gatherin is fixin to take place!! :txflag:
