Something they should have been doing all along. Would have saved them a lot of heart ache.
Yeah I agree man....good thing I sent a follow up email. I tend to be overkill when it comes to things like these, but I figured it was warranted, given how many problems people seem to be having with things getting "lost".

I know they got mine because I sent it Certified Mail with tracking. I wonder if they reply only to apps sent via email.

This email just received after I sent my email yesterday:
"We have received the necessary information for your CHL application. No further action or documents are required on your part at this time. A specialist will review and process your application. If anything further information is required we will contact you by regular mail. The online status of your application will likely update just before the process completes. This can take up to 8 weeks from when your last documents were submitted.
Please allow staff sufficient time to continue processing your application. For more information on status changes and updates visit
http://www.DPS.Texas.gov" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or go to the Status Check link."
This means they are actually confirming receipt of everything. I'll start checking the site periodically for status updates. I cannot wait...

I got that same email on 1/18, my original online submission was 1/2. So it took 16 days for them to send me that confirmation.

Hey everyone. Thought I would finally get the deed done. Took my second class 1/11/2014 (let the first one lapse 2 years ago

yeah I know... Just didn't have the funds) anyway...
1/11/2014 class taken
1/15/2014 online app started and fee paid
1/29/2014 FAST fingerprints taken
1/30/2014 CHL-100, checklist, and supporting docs uploaded via rsd website

I'm miserable waiting, so I joined this forum. I heard they hired some temps to help with the load, hopefully that will speed things up...more than just a few days, too.
1/20/2014 - Online Application completed
1/22/2014 - Fingerprints submitted
1/25/2014 - CHL Class taken and passed
1/27/2014 - Mailed documents
2/1/2014 - Uploaded documents, just to be safe.
Dangit, this wait is gonna suck.

I was a wierd one who REEEAAALLLLYYYY had some bills come up (class 02/2012)... I sent mine via snail mail (01/2014), I wish I'd found this forum before I sent it off... Do I have anything to worry about that I only sent snail mail and didn't use the online portal?

Did you make copies of your docs? Email those. If not...you should always make copies of important documents like that.

Joining in the waiting game:
Completed CHL class 1/11/14
Submitted CHL application on-line 1/12/14
FAST fingerprints 1/14/14
Docs submitted (Class cert, FAST cert, app checklist) on-line 1/14/14
Email that docs received from DPS/RSD 1/15/14
Status unchanged since 1/15/14
Status reads: "License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page."
Looks like a month or 2 more to wait, huh?

Unfortunately, I did not... I actually considered it before sending, but in my infinite impatience decided against it. Is there any way I can call CHL division and ask if they have my documents? Has anyone done this?

We sent ours certified mail with tracking. They were received two days after we sent them. (We also made copies. Our CHL instructor insisted upon it.)
