Yep, there was some friendly fire involved in this incident. Once the suspect started firing through the door, and officers started taking hits, everyone scrambled out of the kill zone (they couldn't make entry because the doorway was barricaded to prevent it and they were sitting ducks on the porch entryway) and started returning fire. One team member was shot by another officer - who had himself just been shot by the suspect.

Considering the cost and availability of video cameras, there is no good reason that "knock and announce" warrants aren't being video taped . . . that would provide substantiation that those serving the warrant did knock and did announce before they kicked in the door . . . and that they were readily identifiable as uniformed LEOs, not masked men with guns.
