I thought about using my CHL, but decided not to stir the pot. I must be getting old. I used to stir the pot at every opportunity.
It's a small town. Of the several election officials, one lady used to be the secretary at a place I used to work. Another lady, who's been working the polls since probably before I was born (I'm 46 yrs old), asked where my mother was because she hadn't seen her yet today. Throwing down the CHL would have just given them something to gossip about. Though half the people in this town probably have them, flashing it would have probably been seen as showing off, and definitely would have been discussed after I left.

Voted this morning. My polling place in is an Episcopal church and I didn't notice any 30.06 signs. They did not scan my DL and may not have even had the ability to do so. I don't remember seeing any equipment that could have done that. My ballot was on paper and I placed into a machine that, I assume, scanned the oval bubbles I filled in. There was no line and when I went in there were four voting booths with only three in use. They all finished and left while I was still filling in the bubbles and no one else came in while I was still there. I don't know if there is any significance to that or not, but I am in Dallas County.

You know there is no requirement to post a polling place. It is simply illegal to carry there.

Yup. Sorry, I was noting that only because it was at an Episcopal church. My own church does not have a 30.06 sign and I think this is the only other church I've been into in Texas.

Didn't use mine for voting. But once I inadvertently handed it to the gate officer at a TDC unit. She didn't even realize what it was. She just asked "When did they change the drivers license?" Swapped it out for the right one.

The lady I handed it to didn't say anything just looked at it and printed some kind of sticker that another person put on the page I had to sign

I knew several of the people running my polling place, they spent more time checking on my wife's ID than they did on mine, all I rated was a "Hi Jim" and a glance.
