You make a statement with the face you present to the world. It's not so much the makeup as it is the fact that the makeup is an in your face affront to current norms and mores. I think that is what many of the members here are reacting too. And reasonably so in my opinion.

C'mon, do any of you know any male that wears makeup as a life choice who is straight?

(...and of course, we're not talking about stage/movie/performance/medical need, news guys blah, blah, blah...)

I'm speaking of straight guys. Well, I guess straight now includes hetero guys with feminine characteristics, which I willingly admit, I know little about...but, I digress.

I don't know any makeup wearing straight guys, but my circle are mostly, well, normal, average, older guys who would be embarrassed to think they would ever be considered effeminate.

The article I read about this is probably about so-called millennials. Maybe...it didn't say...

Me, and my friends are older and probably considered fossils about things like male (gag) makeup. And yes, I know my history about the founding fathers...powdered wigs, etc.

The thing is this apparently isn't some passing fad, but a relatively new phenomenon.

I guess being considered effeminate as opposed to being thought "butch" is the new thing. Even for straight guys.

Again, who'd a thunk it?

So, back to the question: Know any straight guy/guys who wears makeup as a life choice?

BigGuy,

Astute observation.

Perhaps, because as a kid I had to move constantly, usually no more than 3 months at a time in any one place, toughness was required. I was always being challenged. I was always (it seemed) the new kid.

My response: As soon as the bully (and there was always one in every new school) started in verbally, I hit him. Usually, that was the end of the confrontation, but not always. I have the broken body parts (teeth, ribs, etc. healed of course) to prove it.

Effeminacy was an invitation to a "you know" what kicking.

So, discovering there's a line of products targeting straight males to be more 'girly' distinctly offends my sense of self preservation. Or, something like that....

I'm happy to be a man.

Not, a girly man...

Well in my hippie days I had a hair practically to middle of my back. I wore it in a pony tail plenty of times.
How do you make a pony tail out of "a hair"? Is that akin to a comb over?

I guess i was thinking about my present state of hirsuteness.

The whole earring thing in the 90s was 'left is right, right is wrong'...then they started wearing them in both ears...lol

Really, hatred? Youre trying to redefine the true sentiment. I have sympathy for homosexuals & their families. If my child was gay it would break my heart, but I would not abandon him/her.

The thought of swapping slobber with another man repulses me. It's not a conscious choice, it's a normal biological reaction for a normal biological being - & if you reserve the right to do something like that, then I certainly reserved the right to be repulsed by it. Im a homophobe & owe no explanations nor apologies.

It's not about sin, it's about vitality. Homosexuality is not feasible and is an aberration. The purpose of men and women are to procreate. If the species do not regenerate the species disappear - a gay member of the species that is unable to mate is not a viable member.

I try to keep a generous spirit, but too many want to preach tolerance until that tolerance is for someone with different views.
