Class: 8/22/09
Packet Mailed: 8/24/09
Packet Received by DPS: 8/26/009
Pin# Rec'd (mail): Sometime later
Status - Processing Application: Oh, yeah
Status - Anxiously Waiting

I thought I was suffering all alone until I stumbled upon this forum yesterday. Now, I can suffer in good company. Has anyone had experience with Tarrant County dragging its feet on these applications?

Hi tartex and welcome to the forum! There's a wealth of information here at your fingertips and a bunch of good people to get to know.
I didn't experience any feet dragging. But I documented all infractions in my entire lifetime by getting certified "dispositions" in advance and enclosing them with my original application packet.
You might want to consider starting a timeline like many of us have, by going to User Control Panel, Profile, Edit Signature. It helps to keep track of things.

Thanks, Joe817.
With the huge backlog DPS has had, I guess I shouldn't be getting so edgy. I only had one "infraction"; a "public drunkeness" charge
in 1954. But that was in North Carolina so they may be the ones dragging their feet. I suppose it might help if I called DPS, asked that question and then called the PD in NC. Can't really see that holding up the CHL though, since I had a Top Secret clearance for most of my 21 years in the military and then spent 8 years as a Postal Police Officer for the Inspection Service. Wheels just sometimes turn slowly when there doesn't seem any way to grease them.

Yeah, I hear ya. You can't make a 300 rpm electric motor turn at 500 rpm.
Most of the backlog has worked its way through the system, or should be by now, according to DPS. I'd say give them a call and speak to one of the techs. The call takers try to answer all questions, but simply don't have the training or experience.

Another Newbie here with an Aug. application. Been lurking here for awhile and figured with the amount of time I spend reading this forum, I should probably go ahead and join. My name is Joe, 32 yrs. old from the Hutto/Williamson county area. Thanks to all who post such great info on this forum. I am ususally able to find answers to questions that I have without even asking the questions, this site/community is great!
