Faxed a letter to my rep. then called to verify the arrival. The lady who answered said she got it, and placed it in the inbox. Well, now we will see how this goes. Hopefully, it will do better than my previous phone calls.

we sent our apps around the same day... Im fixing to send the form by Mr Cotton as well.

Well, My wife and I sent our applications in at the same time. They were received in Austin on March 26. I received my CHL on July 30, 18 weeks (126 days) my wife has still not received hers, they say it is still pending. It will be 21 weeks, 174 days tomorrow August 20. This is insane!!!

I am at day 146, so what got accomplished today? Well, for starters I faxed a letter to my state rep, then called to verify delivery. The lady asked, "is it a two paged letter?" I replied, yes, then she stated she placed it in his inbox, so hopefully he has seen it or will see it soon. Afterward, I took the same fax letter, copied and emailed it to DPS, I also Cc'ed DPS Director Steven McCraw. My fingers are crossed.

I called DPS today and got hold of Monica, one of the operators or techs (whatever they call them). She was very polite and seemed sympathetic. She said because I had to supply additional information back in June, they did not start my background check until then. I mailed my app. in March. She said Harris county is "so backed up" and she couldn't tell me when the background check would be completed. So I figure I lost a couple of months time and it will most likely be another two or three months before I can even expect the plastic. What a nightmare.

crap!! same thing happened to me :( had to supply some new info; and was back to 'processing' on June 8th.

Send in the letter that Mr. Cotton set up. Maybe we can all get the same hearing date.

Very strange how DPS works.... I also had to submit missing info on 6/4 and it went back to processing 6/13.... I now have my plastic but you applied a month before me!

Strange indeed. I had to send new photos in May. They were received on May 28. Out for Harris County background check on June 1. And here I sit desperately wanting to make a Wally World walk

Spoke with DPSCHL today, said that my "docs are out for printing" and that my license will be issued when the docs come back.

Anyone have the foggiest idea what this means? Given, it sounds better than "waiting on the background check to come back" but is even more confusing.

I am thinking about starting the part of the process.

to me it sounds like you're about to have to start checking the mailbox soon .

keep an eye on your online status.
once your online status changes to "application complete" ,
that usually means its about to be dropped into the out going mail.

Congrats! I'm counting the days...I'm on day 87 today.
