It all depends if you disclosed any arrests or claiming veteran status. Basically anything out of the ordinary. If they send your background check to the local PD for background check, you never know how proactive they are. It says whatever agency is doing it for RSD has up to 60 days before a respond is needed. I'm sure some PDs are over worked or just don't put a priority on some background checks. It would be interesting to see where everyone is applying from and maybe figure out which city or county sucks at doing it.

They just seem to pick and choose who they want to get out of the way. I went with my brother and his wife we all submitted the same day they got theres back over a week later and I'm still waiting. We sent ours off Dec 2 2016 in texas. I called and they told me no flags just waiting on back ground still. So my calculations they have till tuesday when the 60 days is up. Just aggravating.

wonder what is holding her application up so long.. does she have a criminal record?
More of a blemish on her record. Arrest where charges were dropped. Records showing this cleared requested and received by a neighboring state($13.50 fee from said state). Submitted and waiting for things to catch up. I am recommending she call to see if they will tell her anything over the phone. Status online remains the same.

Same status update here. I have a clean record,so I was hoping it went through quickly compared to others on the forum
With clean records that had to wait several weeks for background check to complete.

I thought this day would never come.
I have had the hardest time getting my LTC and want to share my unique story for those that feel the piece of plastic will never arrive.
I am an active duty Marine and was stationed overseas when I first applied for my LTC in 2015. I received a letter that I met all of the qualifications except for the in state pistol proficiency test portion(military pistol expert qualifications will not suffice). So in May 2016, when I go back to the states, I attended the LTC class but I did not have time to get the digital fingerprints done while I was passing through Texas. Figuring that my ink fingerprints were sufficient first time, I submitted them again from my new duty station. After six months of phone calls to the LTC customer service I was informed that my prints were not valid and to resubmit them! That was October 2016.
Finally 24 February 2017! print pending. Never give up. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Lessons learned: 1. Spend the time on digital fingerprints.
2. Call the LTC on at least once a month to follow up (I never heard the same story twice).

My 60 days is up today and still reading same message, fingerprints and background under review. Always found it funny I can buy a gun in less then 15 minutes but takes over 60 to carry it.

Hi all,
I took my class back in Dec 2016 and submitted all of my paperwork. I haven't heard anything yet other than a confirmation email of my submission. Any ideas of what I can do or have I not waited long enough?

Call the phone number at the bottom of the page that says you can call for help. Option 1. You may be on hold, but they should be able to tell you something.

When my wife calls, the recording says due to high call volume try again later. Not even an opportunity to be on hold.
