If you travel abroad, you'll know how lucky you are to live in Texas. Anywhere in Europe and Asia, self-defense is a CRIME. In South America, self-defense is a crime if you're poor. I don't know about Africa nor Australia first hand as I've never been there, but I hear that it's the same there, too. That's because as VM177 points out, making self-defense a crime puts thugs at an advantage. Thugs control all the world's governments and some states of the union (people's republic of Cali & new york). We are very lucky to be living in Texas, where thugs don't rule.
Don't let thugs take over! Vote on November 2nd, drive your elderly neighbors to vote, and protect other voters from intimidation (during presidential 08 election, black panthers stood outside of poll booths with nightsticks:

Revealing my liberal tendencies, it is my belief that non-violence and living as a true-pacifist would be wonderful. But only if every single human that I was ever going to come into contact with shared and practiced the same beliefs.
They don't...so I don't.
I think that everyone on this board would agree with you. I would love to see world peace come about, but that isn't even in the realm of possibility.
That's the difference between pacifist and well, us CHL holders. They are idealist, and we are realist. I saddens me to say it, but violence is one of the major defining characteristics of the human race. We realize this fact, and we are willing to defend ourselves; hoping to mitigate the effects of violence felt by us and our loved ones.
Sorry for the brief rant. Somebody found one of my hot buttons, so to speak.

She left to take a few people’s orders, but came back to our table a few minutes later to talk some more. She asked us if we were pro-gun, and we said that yes, we are very pro-gun. Next she asked “Do you all have gun permits?” to which my father-in-law replied that he and I do. “Are you carrying a gun right now?!” My father-in-law answered that he was not, but that I was (

I’ll have to remind him later that “concealed means concealed”); however, she did not seem to be affected very much by the fact that I was carrying concealed. ......
I agree that concealed means concealed.....
So, for the sake of argument, would you have rather your father-in-law say "No" in answer to whether you were carrying? Or some other answer than "Yes" (such as....?)
