Thank you - apology accepted. And my earlier apology still stands. It is really hard to convey tone into text. I usually end up being very verbose in an effort to avoid appearing 'short' or upset. I can see how that could be read as sarcastic.

I used to think stores and restaurants that posted noncompliant signs wanted to ban guns but were too clueless to get it right. Based on that, I didn't correct them. I just spent my money where they didn't post signs.
However, you and Embalmo are so persistent and seem so confident they're really pro RKBA that I decided to do an experiment. I bought DIY postcards (Avery 8387) and printed a "Notice of Noncompliance" to leave with the hostess or receptionist at businesses with the wrong signs. I gave out 7 today. I don't expect to give out that many every day, because I made a point to hit places today that I know have signs, but I should hand out a few dozen by the end of the month. That will give me a good sample size. I'm keeping track and I'll revisit them in June or July to see if they change the sign.

I have no idea what RKBA means, but you've misunderstood me completely. I don't care what these businesses think about gun rights, nor do I care what their intentions are when they post a sign if it isn't a 30.06. I went inside a Toys R Us with a sign that said "No Guns Allowed" today and bought a big "Angry Birds" plush doll that is only available there. Now why would I voluntarily restrict myself from a place that legally allows me to carry. That would be exactly what the antis want isn't it?
CHL is about legally carrying in as many places as possible. It is not about getting hung up on personal feelings. I can tell you for sure that if I really didn't want guns in my business and these gun nuts kept bugging me with these cards and letters, I would do the reseach and figure out exacly how to legally keep these gun toting rednecks out of my CO OP on South Congress Avenue. And as we all know, if a non-30.06 sign is taken down it helps no one. Once again-In the real world realism trumps idealism.

:iagree: My experiment will find out the real world realism of their sign.

For the most part, I agree with Embalmo, but

This part I don't get. If these cards and letters are not pointing out that the sign is incorrect, then why would a business owner have reason to research it. For all he knows, his sign is working and keeping them from bringing their guns in his store.

Like I said, if I didn't want guns in my shop and gun nuts kept bothering me, it would annoy me enough to see what the actual laws are. Besides, why would a gun nut bother a business that isn't doing ANYTHING to keep them out. Leagally speaking, no 30.06 means that the business is as pro-gun as Ted Nugent.
The first rule of any complaint letter is to have a plauible, acceptable solution; and there can no solution to a non-problem.

Reread tbrown's comment above. He *is* giving out cards that state their sign is non-compliant with 30.06.

Nope-The reality is that it is perfectly legal to carry past a non-compliant sign. There is no need for confirmation on that.

Hold up. Does the whole "notice of non-compliance" mean that he was pointing out that the sign was incorrect? And I seriously doubt that if the cards are really being distributed, he's doing it based on my posts.

Ask to see their liquor license and call TABC accordingly. They will sort it out and they may get a fine as well.

Perhaps I'm reading it wrong, but to me this says that he has printed up some postcards stating that the no guns sign in the establishment does not meet the legal requirements of 30.06 to prevent a CHL licensee from entering the establishment with a concealed handgun. Obviously the wording is probably different, but the intent is the same.
EDIT: And if I am reading it wrong, I apologize in advance.

MOST (not all) SHOULD have the blue sign up, one or two have the red one. (Midland location)

That's what it looks like to me. To me, he seems to be saying that: "If these businesses are really putting up gun-busters because they truly welcome CHL's but merely want to keep other customers and/or insurance companies happy; then they won't change to a compliant sign if I point it out to them."

That's correct. If they're right about the signs being intentionally wrong, nothing will change.
