The bill that would at least make a statement if not actually do something to stem the tide of the TSA groping is on the rocks. I can and have called, but since some of yall live in TX you might get more traction than I do. This is important and even if it does not do anything more than bring the issue to the courts and the limelight it would be worth it. So think about it yall--after all they are not just going to be at the airports anymore, but bus station, and train stations and God knows where else. So it will become harder and harder to avoid the TSA gropings if we don't stop it somewhere.

Any politician who would side with rapists and other criminals by keeping college students and professors disarmed, would probably side with perverts who sexually assault little children and the elderly.
I think calling TSA agents 'perverts" is going too far. While I am not naive and do know there are some in that job who get a sick pleasure from what that do many are doing their job and getting no pleasure from it whatsoever in fact if it was me in their shoes I would feel as uncomfortable as the people receiving the pat down. But to my original point a blanket statement calling them all perverts is too far.
I agree.
Come on people, get real. Probably 99% of the TSA agents doing the searches are just doing a job, not
groping. A job they probably do not like to do but one that feeds the family and pays the bills.
The ones that people should vent their anger at are the
bureaucrats that mandate these searches.
A few people commit crimes with guns and the gun grabbers try to paint all gun owners as likely criminals and demonize them. Are we going to use the same flawed thinking?

Is may be fun to pick a single word out of context and try to derail the conversation. However, people who did the courtesy of reading my comment in context understood me. The TSA employees who honestly don't like the groping would welcome laws against it, like the Texas bill. The bad politicians are not on their side nor ours.
The bad politicians we were discussing are on the same side as the perverts.

I quoted you comment in full. I was not taking as you say, a single word out of context, you made a blanket statement suggesting that the TSA agent are perverts getting pleasure from pat-downs and I called you out on it. If you worked for the TSA how would you feel about someone saying that to you. If you do not what to defend your comment on merit and only attack me for pointing out how it went to far then fine, but calling them all perverts is out of line. And suggesting I did not read or understand your post is unnecessary too. Some say all gun owners are extremist nut jobs who want to overthrow the government, are you extreme, or a nut job? I think not but you see how blanket statements like yours seem.

Loadedliberal in your tag lines you have a quote from Jefferson. Saying (basically) if a law is unjust you should disobey it. Most people see putting their hands on another person's private parts for no cause as unjust.
May I say that those who continue in their job after being briefed that their job would now require them to put their hands on children's and adults private parts with the quite flimsy excuse of consent (coerced consent is what I would call it--that is not consent at all (either you let us touch you however we say or you don't catch this flight/train/bus and we fine you 11K)) might want to take a good hard look at what they are doing and possibly stand against it themselves.

Thanks Speaker Straus. These are the type of policies you're defending.

Another example of the perverted acts being committed by the TSA.
Oops, maybe I should've written "acts that deviate from what is considered appropriate, right, normal or correct" instead of "perverted acts" ...

Ben Franklin said "He who gives up freedom for safety, deserves neither". Perhaps a better quote would be, "He who gives up freedom for safety, gets tyranny.

Yeah, and where have we heard that before? The TSA says they're "just following procedure" --a slight modification from the line: "just following orders." This attitude leads to the same kind of place, which is why the phase used to be ridiculed. The fact that our government uses it now with a straight face signals a step into some very dangerous territory.
A 45 minute search of a 95 year old woman who can barely walk and has leukemia --and we will no doubt hear people trying to justify this as good "security." Because, hey, the world is full of middle class American women who are traveling with sick mothers they have rigged with explosives so they can both die in a fiery plane crash in order to advance the Islamic cause. They're everywhere. We've got to stop all these old ladies with explosives hidden in their Depends diapers, now, before it's too late --and the babies with explosives in their diapers too.
What's worse, that an American government is doing this, or that we have a population of people that think this is OK? The former can be fixed, the latter means we're doomed.

It also means the terrorists have already won. I suspect that Osama was holed up in his hideout in Pakistan because he was laughing so hard he would make a spectacle of himself every time he went outside!

Actually the TSA is creating a target rich environment for a suicide bomber. Get to the front of the line and detonate yourself. You would get at least 50 people, maybe more.

It was sarcasm. I've emailed and called dozens of members of the legislature just about begging them to defend us against this nonsense. We need to start talking hard prison time for everyone in the TSA.

I would probably get so mad I would harass a disabled guy and almost make him miss his flight, to try to feel better about my many shortcomings. Then I would go back to making caregivers remove diapers from toddlers and the elderly.

I realize that --I think the exclamation mark was a clue. My rant was intended to be follow up, an expansion, not a retort. I tried to direct my criticism at a general class of people --those who apologize for overreaching government-- and I apologize if that didn't come through.
