Apparently Georgia law states that a person under 18 at the time of the crime can not be executed, so all they face is a life sentence, even though both kids are being charged as adults (befitting the adult nature of the crime).seamusTX wrote:We don't know what the plea bargain and resulting sentence might be.

Yeah this lawyer is going to have a tough time.
No statement from the President on how this is all the gun's fault. Or how terrible this crime is. No protests. Waiting.

I'm sure if BHO would've had a son he would like like one or both of the suspects.....

Yet another proof (as if we need more) that those intent on doing crimes do not give a darn about gun laws.
SAHM to four precious children. Wife to a loving husband.

For a person under 18 years old, life without the possibility of parole would probably be a tougher punishment than a death sentence. Think about it. LIFE!! The rest of your life you will be rotting away in a prison cell. At his age, the other inmates will have him wearing pig tails and a halter top.n5wd wrote:Apparently Georgia law states that a person under 18 at the time of the crime can not be executed, so all they face is a life sentence, even though both kids are being charged as adults (befitting the adult nature of the crime).seamusTX wrote:We don't know what the plea bargain and resulting sentence might be.

There are any number of witty sayings about someone going to Hades and running the place in a week; and people do escape from prison.

Isnt it illegal for a child to poses a firearm and then also shoot a baby in the face? They need to ban shootibg babies in the face because a law will prevent this from happening.

The latest twist to this morass is that the acting-Mayor of Brunswick has now been arrested and charged with impeding a police investigation and witness tampering, plus it seems he's under indictment in another county for racketeering. Geez- what kinda place is this, anyways?

Says saltwater pond. Guess that would not be good for longterm storage. Bullet recovered being analyzed. 1000% innocent still per attorney.
Here is a link with more of an update, but not much more on the most recent arrest.

I guess the councilman was trying to hold down the fort until Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton can get there.

The trial of the 17 year old charged with killing a baby in its stroller after the mother refused to give up her purse has started.
Fox News covered the trial this morning and it was chilling. If you see it anywhere else, please let us know. Maybe Nancy Grace will cover it?
Also covered was the disgusting questions (and it is his right to ask) asked by the defense to the mother. He is attempting to show that the teenager was hired by the father to kill the baby or something. He also made the mother answer questions about the prescription drugs she takes for bipolar disease. He is attempting to show (and it is his right to ask) that the mother is an unreliable witness.

Baby stroller murderer convicted. Took jury two hours. Apparently they did not believe the defense attorney that the baby's death was part of an elaborate conspiracy to kill the baby for the insurance money. Hope the attorney is proud of his grilling of the grieving mom on the stand.

One of my facebook friends (not the anti gunner but a different one) Posted this about it. Emphasis is by me.
"In France, the maximum for murder is 25 years. So, if he did it there, he would be out at age 43. Our system is pretty harsh. Consider this. If the guy does it when he's 18, he may serve 60 years, based on normal life expectancy. If he does it when he's 70, he spends 8 years in prison before he dies. But then, few old farts shoot babies."
Rather than unfriending him I will keep him in the mix, I really need to see how badly the other side thinks. It puts things into perspective.
I wonder how he would feel if it was his 13 month old grandson.

Re: GA: 17-year-old charged in shooting death of baby
All the European countries have lenient sentencing by our standards. They also have much lower rates of serious violent crime outside some pockets, like where the Mafia operates in Italy. France probably has fewer murders in a year than Chicago has in a hot summer weekend.
They're democracies. They can run their countries as they see fit.
In the U.S., the average time served in prison for violent crimes is pretty short. Criminals may be sentenced to long terms, but they seem to be paroled quickly (except for life without parole and death penalty cases). That is why you read about people who have been convicted of multiple felonies at a young age and are still on the streets.
