You may want to reread the thread. Nobody intentionally displayed their weapon. The arresting officer Nick Atkinson, Round Rock PD was indeed ignorant of the law. No change for me after Sept 1st.
Handog,
You're missing my point. I know you didn't intentionally display anything. The fact that the officer, Nick Atkinson, charged you and wrote down the word "intentionally" indicates that he knew the law quite well and chose to use it as he saw fit... Had he not written that down, I'd give him a pass on ignorance.

I see. He was aware of the law. He presumably knew he could not make the arrest for unintentional failure to conceal and chose to use it for his betterment. Devious rather than ignorant. The point is, there are LEOs who do not support CHLs. They may be a splinter group but I'm keeping mine deeply concealed regardless of the new law.

Bingo.
And if I haven't told you, thank you for sharing your story on this forum and others. And thank you for not just rolling over on the charge, because most of us know that it would have been a lot less expensive and perhaps a lot less risky to simply plead to what you were charged with...
How the officer here got away with it is something that I don't understand completely - but it shows me that they are granted a lot of professional latitude and allowed to make some pretty big mistakes that can certainly impact the life of citizens for a long time.

It's like the only thing a CHL is good for is to show a judge -after spending thousands for court & Attorney fees because a LEO doesnt agree with a license issues by the DPS.
After reading some posts here:
My biggets fear, after doing the right stuff during a traffic stop. is being slammed over the Hood of you car & cuffed anyway & taking a ride....
Im Definitely going to stay well concealed & Drive super careful so wont get stopped.

My biggest fear is not being slammed on the hood of the car. It's that the incident isn't caught on tape and recorded from start to finish.

I go well concealed but I alway wonder what someone would do if they accidently discovered my gun. If I knew they saw it for sure & said some think I would show them my CHL. But if they secretely call the police I think I would wait with my TDL & CHL in hand.
Im glad the new laws give us a little slipping room. But I will not change the way I carry. I will stay safely concealed.
My brother has had his CHL for 18 years & has been stopped for minor stuff & he said the LEOs were real respectful. Plus he never got a ticket.
He also said he was never disarmed by the LEO either. I can under stand if they want to disarm you. (Nicely)

No. But this opens up a whole new category of which of my guns I will choose to carry now.

If they secretly call the police, I'll go about my business because I don't know any better.
If they openly call the police, I'm leaving immediately. Not because I'm doing anything wrong, but because once the police get there the best outcome is that nothing happens. There are a bunch of other outcomes that are not so good for me.
If stopped after I left, I left because I was de-esclating a situation where someone was upset. I did not leave the scene of a crime because I committed no crime.
