Was driving to Austin couple weeks ago and just outside Hillsboro, before 35E merge into 35 a CH-53D passed overhead, thought he was doing a land navigation flight/training because he looked like he was following 35E/35 pretty close

Anybody know if they are doing anything with armored forces? I noticed a depot of APC's was completely empty. I thought it was odd that the army would call for all of those APC's out of San Antonio. Only a couple left that they were working on at the depot from the say, 50+ APCs.

I wonder which Special Forces unit has APC's in their TO&E? They did state that this exercise was to train Special Forces?

What kind of APC's were they? Strykers? HMMWVs? Bradley's?

Also...

I sure would be interested in time lapse photography of the closed Wal Marts.

Sadly, I think there are not very many people who trust implicitly everything (anything?) the government tells them any more. More of the change brought about by the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

You'll need to be more specific. Do you mean M113 Armored Personnel Carrier or the M2/M3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle?

Probably on their way back from the Lubbock FEMA Death Camp. ;-)

According to Diane Rehm on PBS this morning, Jade Helm begins today.

Texas and either one or two other states were chosen to play the aggressor role.

She went on to state "Arch Conservatives" have gone into conspiracy mode and think martial law will be the end result of Jade Helm.

I'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist of it.

I wish they would tell us more about the type of threat for which they are preparing.

From Army Times
On the eve of Jade Helm, Lastori dismissed the conspiracies and suggested opposition to the exercises has waned.

"This overall training exercise is designed to ensure that Army special operations forces are trained, equipped and organized to meet future threats," Lastoria told Army Times. "Even a lot of the journalists in Texas have said a lot of the controversy has died down."

I am about 8 miles north of Camp Bullis as the crow flies. I am anxious to see and hear what I can. Should be interesting. I suspect the Osprey we saw Sunday was headed there.

I too wish more info about the exercise was known. And I also don't see why they deem it necessary to go into the civilian areas to run this exercise. Seems to me with the hundreds of thousands of acres of military reservation land plus the national forests,
would be more appropriate location to conduct the exercise.

I'm sure that many military installations(Fort Bragg for example) has mock up towns to conduct these type exercises.

Please let us know what you see in the coming weeks regarding this. And anyone else on the forum across the state. I'm stuck up here in the Metroplex and doubt I'll see any of this.

I'm sorry, tracked units. All of the easily identifiable units were M113's. I thought I saw what looked liked tracked versions of a stryker, but I generally don't stop to stare, as that might not go over well with their security units, lol.

HMMWV's, I wouldn't really considered those "armored," just do the lack of serious armor. And I've always considered a bradley a sort of light tank/apc.

Meaning no disrespect..... but if it is completely empty, how do you know that it is a permanent APC depot? Isn't it possible that they were simply parked there temporarily?

Hey I got an idea! Maybe they all went down to the border to close it off! Wait....... NAH! Obama is still president. I forgot for one blessed moment.....

For whatever reason there having this exercise, our Governor Abbott has people not only watching them, but was reported today on the news, they are to advise Abbott on a daily basis what they see going on .
Some how this exercise doesn't pass the smell test.
