More conflicting information. This time, it's about how we have been told to drink more water than necessary.

And that is Noakes and other like him are saying. Drink when you're thirsty.mojo84 wrote:More conflicting information. This time, it's about how we have been told to drink more water than necessary.

What Noakes brings to mind the debate, even though it's the same as Attia, is his international recognition in sports science

Here is a Stanford University's study called A to Z Battle of the diets, Atkins to Ornish to Zone. They put a number of these fad diets against each other. The person heading up this project is a vegan. Guess which diet he said won at losing the most weight, keeping it off, and most importantly best improvement in blood work? Atkins

Didn't bother to read the entire thread but, here's my two cents. Anything that is handed to you thru the car window is not food. Restaurants are just as bad as fast food joints. All you can eat buffets are the worst. Sugar sugar sugar. Would you eat three tablespoons of sugar? That's what happens every time you drink a coke, Dr. Pepper or Pepsi. Rice, potatoes, bread and pasta are the enemy. They should be at the top of the food pyramid and not at the bottom. The only person to blame is the fat slob you see in the mirror. I should know, I was that fat slob. Five years ago I weighed 240 and was flirting with diabetes. I had metabolic syndrome from the choices I made. No one was to blame but me. Because of it I have stage 3 kidney disease. The Dr. said to get off the tracks or get hit by the train. I chose to get off of the tracks. I now weigh 156. I went from no exercise to weight lifting twice a week and running seven plus miles a week. Don't expect to lose the weight by exercising. Eating less is the only way to loose weight. Pick a diet,it doesn't matter which one it is, the right one is the one that works for you. Cheating a little is cheating a lot. Your friends and family can be your best friend or your worst enemy when it comes to eating healthy. When you try to eat better but your spouse doesn't it's a real challenge. I wound up fixing my own meals and offered to fix for her also. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Oh have that piece of pecan pie, one slice won't hurt. Living a healthy life style is a choice that you choose to live. I made the choice and hopefully you will also. If you don't then don't blame anyone except the person you see in the mirror and don't expect me to say I told you so because I won't. I made my choice and you can make yours.

The whole point of this is that we all been lied to by the government as to what/how to eat to prevent heart attacks and type 2 diabetes.
There was no biochemistry science that went into those nutrition guidelines. They used population statistics. And There's no evidence that saturated fat causes heart disease.
Jumping Frog has type II and went on a LCHF diet (which goes against the ADA guidelines), lost weight and reversed his symptoms. I reversed my bad blood work. I just ordered the fatest steak the restaurant has.

More healthy eating confusion. Is the oil you use really as healthy as you think?

Another recent contradictory study.

Lots of studies that prove what the author already believed
IMO most are crap. Many likely don't exist or weren't conducted ins scientifically meaningful way.
My study has one participant
me
Ive been Type1 diabetic for more than 25 years
In those 25+ years Ive consumed zero sugared drinks.
No non diet soda, no sweet tea, no sweet liquids except to treat hypoglycemia. None.
I add ZERO sugar to ANYTHING, EVER, Havent for 25 years.
I buy NOTHING that is high in sugar, I read and memorize the carb counts in EVERYTHING
For 18+ years Ive been counting carbs ( sugar ) on EVERYTHING I eat or drink - EVERYTHING for more than 18 years.
I have records of how many total grams of carbs consumed per day going back years from my insulin pump logs.
When I was diagnosed I was 185 lbs and was told I looked like I had hadnt eaten in months.
Now Im almost 250 lbs. And need to lose about 30 lbs ...
If Sugar is the evil that has been repeated and I dont eat any,
and my insulin is carefully monitored by my pump,
how did I gain the weight ?
Hmmm... Well that goes against most of the sugar studies...
The issue is simple move more than you eat. Or burn more than you consume.
If you eat more calories than you burn by moving, you gain weight.
YES Some calories are healthier than others.
All the other ideas and concepts about what to eat, and fat vs sugar vs paleo vs atkins are marketing hype.
Eat healthy and eat less than you burn.
I sit way too much and eat a reasonable diet.
I simply dont move enough.
That and I like Coors Light.
Ted Naimans you tube about insulin resistance is over simplified. According to him "every super model has high insulin sensitivity" and could eat whatever they wanted and never gain weight... Huh ? Most are skinny cause they dont eat much, its not because they eat 4000 calories and their body magically doesnt process it. Its chicken and egg, is the super models insulin sensitivity the cause or effect of their body type... His examples of "super terrible" carbs and their Glycemic indexes are mostly bunk. Glucose is 100 - everything else is less, wheat flour is NOT 111 its closer to 70. But like everyone else he has something to sell so he makes up facts to meet his point of view.
the 3 macro nutrients, sugar fat and protein, are the parts of a triangle if one goes up the other goes down
most things listed as low fat are higher in sugar and low sugar are higher in fat.

92f-fan,
Those who consume in mass quantities and hate to leave the couch want fantasy reasons for becoming human hogs...they prefer scientific explanations absolving them of responsibility for their porcine anatomy.
Now pass me that tub of ribs...

I am licking a stick of butter as we speak. I expect to drop a couple pounds before the sun rises in the morning.
