you know... that reminds me....
my CHL instructor also said very plainly that there was no law governing concealed carry and drinking. I thought that odd he would say that.
what thread are you speaking of? I think that was before I graced your pages.

Well, yes. But they're SA revolvers in 45 LC. I somehow doubt that's what this guy was carrying. They do make several guns in 40 S&W, so maybe the news got the two calibers mixed up.
How about the Beretta Model 8045 Cougar? It's .45 ACP.

Why do criminals think they can get away with lying to police. They are going to find out eventually.
I guess when you're looking at ten to twenty anyway for armed robbery, then who cares? They're probably too dumb to realize that the court isn't going to let them post bond until they know exactly who they are...if even then. I'm sure these fine gentlemen won't be able to afford the bond no matter what it is. So they'll be where they belong...behind bars.

They showed store video on DFW Channel 8 at 6.
OMG. It was amazing he was not killed or killed an innocent person.
He walked in while on the phone, passing a bad guy he did not see. Could have been capped right there. Then he chased the other one out the door, all the while firing with one hand.

I wondered if anyone else would remember this.
Beretta has apparently moved the Cougar to their Stoeger product line, so they don't show up on Beretta's current website and they are now made in Turkey. It also would seem they no longer offer the Cougar in .45acp.

FORT WORTH -- Police released surveillance video Friday that shows a witness shooting at two grocery store robbers.
The video shows two robbers entering Albertsons, 3525 Sycamore School Road, Tuesday night. Armed with semiautomatic weapons, they took wallets and purses from customers and employees, police said.
The witness, a 56-year-old Fort Worth man, then walks into the store with a cellphone to his ear. He walks out of camera range, then returns, firing his Beretta at the fleeing robbers.
The witness is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, police said. Blood found at the scene led officers to believe he wounded a robber.
A short time later, Ramsez Hall, 21, of Fort Worth, was dropped off at a south Fort Worth hospital with gunshot wounds to the buttocks and foot. He could face aggravated robbery charges, police said.
Detectives were still seeking the second suspect Friday, police said.

That was pretty surprising. He seemed more interested in the phone conversation. It's like... Ummmm... now's not the time... put down the phone, stay alert, and get your hand on your gun.

From what I heard on the news: He was talking to his wife when he heard a loud noise and the phone went dead. Then he proceeded into the store.
I'm thinking that he saw the BG holding the door and was pretending to talk on his phone like any other deluded sheep or yuppie. Then went inside looking for his wife, but then one of the gang bangers pointed a gun at him and he reacted. That's my take since I might try the same tactic. Act like you're on the phone so that the idiot banger will just think you're like every other moron walking around.

I originally learned to shoot strong handed. Sometime during the 80s it became fashionable to start using 2 hands. Most instructers at the time claimed that shootiing with 2 hands was for girls and girly men.
Maybe its because of the way that I shoot, but I find I'm a little more accurate single handed, although I recover my aim faster using two hands. At the range I do shoot mostly 2 fisted. I think that some older people might shot better single fisting it. Old habits die hard. and single fisted worked pretty well for those of us that learned that way.

Who knows unless they are in that situation. If my wife was in a store and I saw someone pull out a gun and shoot as they entered the store, I would call 911 first, but seriously doubt I would sit by and wait for the cops. My priority would be to get her out. Reminds me of today. We were going to Target, and Bed, Bath and Whatever. I remembered as I got in the truck that I left my piece in the house. I started to blow it off, but went back and got it. You never know when something will happen, and what good is owning a firearm if it just sits in the house?
Good for him, and I I'm thankful noone was injured.

amen brother!
It's far better to have it and not need it than it is to need it and not have it.
