Hi all. Just wanted to let you guys know that I got my plastic yesterday! Today I am carrying (IWB colt commander .45). The only positive side to the wait is that I had plenty of time to experiment with my concealment techniques. For all you guys who are waiting... hang in there. I should have been an easy bkg check as I have lived in the same home for 10 years and worked at the same employer for 18 years. No previous troubles with the law or the tax man. Even with that it was 141 days from the day I dropped my packet off at the post office until the postman dropped my license in my mailbox. Try to be patient, as the licenses do show up... eventually. There is lots of good content on this site, so I intend to hang around and learn from the veterans here. Good luck to you guys.

Spoke with DPSCHL today, said that my "docs are out for printing" and that my license will be issued when the docs come back. Anyone have the foggiest idea what this means?
Given, it sounds better than "waiting on the background check to come back" but is even more confusing.
I am thinking about starting the

part of the process.

Yes wb, I know what it means. It means your docs are out for printing and your license will be issued when they come back.
Seriously...it sounds like you've been approved, and your app has gone to the printer's, and that should mean you should have your license in 2-3 weeks. Congrats!!

It's on the way...almost just waiting on those printing people...

Does anyone know how often the website is updated? I just got off the phone with DPS and she told me the person handling my application approved everything and has sent it for printing but my online status still says "Processing Application." She did say that I should have it in a few weeks as they are waiting for it to come back from the manufacturer (I thought DPS printed that stuff?!?!?!?!?) so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

No one knows how or when the web site is updated. It is supposed to say "Application Complete-license issued" around the time DPS mails the license. However, sometimes it is never updated and still says "Processing application" when the recipient finds the license in his mailbox.
DPS outsources manufacturing of licenses.
BTW, last I heard the license came in a white #9 envelope with a DPS return address.

That was exactly my situation. I checked last week in the morning around 9am and it read "packet mailed to applicant". Around 2pm that same day, I checked again and it read "processing application".

I wouldn't mind being surprised by my status not changing and getting my license in the mail. I would mind being surprised by getting a letter for more information and then seeing the "Detailed Letter" sent status a week later......
Since I still have plenty of time left, I don't ever call them or anything. The middle of September will be my 60 day area, so I'm being patient. Besides, it went to "Processing" within two weeks. The time I did call regarding a PIN I never received, the tech said it was processing and that the pictures looked good and it was cruising through. I won't jinx it by calling again until I have to. So far, so good. Knock on wood.
I was a little surprised he said my pics looked good, considering the subject matter........

Congrats Dex! I'm happy for you! 4 month wait out of Harris County. All things considered not bad at all.
Time for the Wally Walk!
