Amendment 15 add Schools prohibited places. Force teachers to go outside and give oral notification. This is stupid.
Now it’s schools. It’s already ILLEGAL to have a weapon at schools.
Schools are the “least protected places in Texas!” “I’m afraid to send my daughter back to school.”

And the tears have commenced.
Our most vulnerable population are at schools. Women and children.

She's right! It's a gun free zone...and she proposes protecting it with a sign. I propose protecting it with good guys with guns.

I’d love it if he told her that DPS no longer issues CHLs.

Saying that if 1000 people showed up to a school that they would have to orally notify all 1000 people that it is illegal to have a gun in order to charge people with a class A misdemeanor.
If I am correct it’s already a felony to carry a weapon into a school. Geeez.

Shouldn't a legislator learn something about guns and existing gun laws before they are allowed to comment on proposed new gun laws?

It doesn’t matter if it’s illegal federally. We are making it so that the teacher has to go outside and tell every person every day that guns are illegal in schools.

Amendment 15, Thierry, carve-out for schools, says a lot of folks will be emboldened to bring guns to school and wants schools to post written signs prohibiting guns.
Defeated. Yes 64, No 80

I actually agree with the POO here. There is nothing in this bill pertaining to foster parents, nor carrying in a vehicle. This bill specifically is for carrying in public without a license. The POO should be sustained.

After reading the text of the actual amendment, I change my position on the POO.

The amendment simply changes the law to where the foster parent is required to have a license to being someone not otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm. That does sound germane to the legislation
