On top of all this there would be the problem of many states seceding from the Union....
I wish I could be so optimistic. My experience tells me that probably 99% of the US troops will do what they are ordered.
Don't be so quick to think that....my experience tells me that percentage is somewhat lower. I would venture a guess that not many in U.S. uniform today would answer to someone wearing a blue beret, especially on U.S. soil.
Our troops have worn the blue beret at one time or another.

IMHO... the government will never come to the front door demanding our guns. That is just not the way it would happen. What I can invision is increasing taxes on firearms and ammo to the point that only the wealthy can afford them. I could also see a scenario in which certain styles and types of firearms are outlawed for new production while grandfathering in existing weapons. This lowers the resistance from folks who already own firearms and the ones who don't own firearms only realize they have been screwed when they attempt to make a first time purchase.

Gun control will never come in the form of storm troopers knocking at our doors. It would create resistance that our government could never control. the military consist of our very own sons and daughters. They may have issues with being instructed to fire upon their very own people.

Here is my honest belief about the Fed's trying to "Come and Take" our firearms, they would not do it. The reasons are simple enough. There are not that many ATF Agents to confiscate all the guns in just one county of Texas, much less the entire state. Even if they were getting help from other government agecies, there is no way that they would be able to find them all. Do you think that the people who own guns are just going to let them do it? "From my cold dead hands!" is what former NRA President Charleton Heston said and I believe a lot of people would put to use. I believe that the govenment would not want the major networks showing American's having to fight off Federal Agents to keep them off. Yes, they will know if you have a license to conceal a handgun but not where you store it.
