As I patiently wait for my background check to complete, I bought a Springfield XD-40. Any recommendations for a holster? Both IWB and OWB.
TICK TOCK!

I wish the projected date of July 29th was correct. Still waiting on BG Check. I hope i'm not like the April folks and get stuck in the mix for 90+days holding on a BG check.
On another note: Wife still is not in the system. its 30+ days since mailed in. When emailed, they reply with a generic email about her changing her last name a year ago, and it affecting their online system, but the application still being processed.
We'll see. She'll probably get hers before mine!

Right there with you xpert! I am only on my 3rd week. But everything happened so quickly, I thought my BGC would have been done. I think the one thing that was a horrible decision was for me to log into the dps site to check my status.I can't stop doing that now.

I'll echo what teamless said for IWB, you won't regret getting a supertuck.
For OWB, the fobus evolution is a good kydex holster, if you prefer leather, I have always been a fan of bianchi.

WOOHOO! almost there. I had a couple of hiccups with the application and my residence dates.... Sent it back and it finally changed to received today! All thats left is the background check.
Does anyone have any experience with the Kel-Tec pf-9? Im talking quality.... I KNOW its small, I know its polymer... But I LOVE my XD-45 compact. How does it hold up? how well is it built?
I'm new here by the way. Hope to make some good contacts and learn a thing or two.
................... Waiting for my plastic is like waiting for water to boil............

I purchased a Kel-tec PF9 recently but have not had a chance to take it to the range yet. It's ugly as hell, but I did not buy it for the looks. If by 'quality' you mean fit and finish, it's non-existent. I'm going to go over the slide with Duracoat in the near future. I heard some people have had issues with sweat and humidity and their PF9. Me + Houston = plenty of both.
As long as it goes bang when I pull the trigger.
Everyone tells me it is no fun to shoot when you get close to about 100 rounds but I want to try feeding 200 in a day. So whenever I get a chance to pick up a few more mags (it only came with one and I am not about to put 200 rounds through one 7-round mag...or rather, I will not load 200 rounds through one mag) and have some time to send 200 down range, I'll follow up with my experience.

I took my class 7/17, mailed the packet in 7/19, they signed for the packet 7/21, and cashed the check 7/27. I havent heard anything else. What information do you use to log in online to check and see the status? On the site, they had a place for new applicants (assuming that is for applying online, not pen and paper applications) and for returning members, but I saw nowhere to register.
You don't need to register just click on Login for returning users and enter your DL#, SS#, and birthdate.
Thanks. I checked it out, and fingerprints and background checks are under review.
Fingerprints complete. Waiting on background check now. Having gone through 3 or 4 background checks in the last year or 2, one would think it would be a bit quicker.
TWIC took about a week for background check, fingerprint verification, and printing of my card, Port of Panama City took 1 day for background check and fingerprint verification, and gun shows run an instant background check. Seems SOME people have figured out how to run the system anyways.
