when you take a shower turning on hot water tap only, because the water in the water heater is colder than what comes from the pipes outside

I've given up on my backyard since no one sees it (cept for google maps) and turned all attention to the front, just trying to keep it on life support until it rains.

Same here...in fact we're going one further and removing a good portion of our sod in our backyard to put in a patio deck....this Saturday none the less.
We water the backyard enough to keep the foundation from going hinky on us and that's about it for the back.

...when you look at the seven day forecast and it looks like a computer program with all the ones and zero's.
